  • Very useful, practical information and some excellent interviews by various wonderful designers. Not everything the designers say is particularly insightful, but overall, their information is invaluable: note that most of them say the same thing when it comes to potential employees: SOFT SKILLS. This is well emphasized throughout the book and with good reason. Soft skills are considered by many to be the most important thing in deciding which candidate will be selected for employment. If anyone reading this is unclear what soft skills are, pick up the book, or more quickly, google it. This is very handy information to know.

Recommend read not just for designers - has some really insightful interview tips and really makes one appreciate the various design disciplines.

  • This Book Is Ok. It Has Brief Descriptions About A Graphic Design Occupation Such As Web Design Or Environmental Designs. The Rest Of The Chapter Is A Dialogue Of Questions With Someone In The Profession. A Question Might Be "Why Did You ChooseWeb Design?" Or "Would You Say You Had A Particular Style?" Or "What Advice Would You Give Someone Who Was Interested In Blah Occupation?" If This Is What You Are Looking For - Then Great. IFound Myself Losing Interest Quickly.

  • Any book about Graphic Design, is tops in my book (no pun intended). The book was received as I was told, and there was no damage to the book.

  • I purchased for a my beginning graphic design class. It is written very well and I find it to be a great read! I've learned a lot from it so far!

  • It was not quite what I expected.

  • thx

  • Didn't read most of it because it's effectively content-less. Don't let your teachers trick you into buying this. It's pretty, well laid-out, decently written, but in no way is it anything close to worth the money you'll pay for it.

  • Everyday, more and more university students are choosing some area of design as a career field. This guidebook is divided into four major information sections: Design Specialties, Design Businesses, Design Options and Design Education, followed by a Resource Guide, which consists of the names and addresses of design-related organizations and publications. Interwoven with these sections are portions of interviews with about 90 design professionals on such subjects as How I Became a Graphic Designer; Advice to Designers; On Personal Style; Major Influences; and The Future of Graphic Design. Other informative features include How Many Graphic Designers Are There? What Do They Earn? and The Optimum Portfolio. For the curious but uninformed, this is very likely the best introduction available. (Copyright by Roy R. Behrens from Ballast Quarterly Review, Vol. 15, No. 1, Autumn 1999.)
