So far, i have used and referenced to this book even until now. It has been years since I purchased this, but if you are a freelance artist, This is a must have book to reference to. It has pretty much everything from writing a Contract and also somewhat dives into Copyrights.

It was very clean and concise and I enjoyed how he explained the legalities of the artist world. I am freshly graduated and wanted to learn more about contracts since I plan on selling my work in the future as well as dealing with galleries. The only reason why I gave it three stars is because I know it isn't the newest version so some things may have changed but the paperwork that he has in here is great.

This book is one that every artist needs it goes in to detail about the legal aspects of art that almost no art school every explains to there students. i have learned so much and now know how to not only protect my art work but also how to protect myself as an artist from being taken advantage of in the art world.

this book is a good starting place its is just not updated, but it is good to get overview then research based on what you read further, some things are still the same and still apply.

This book is exactly what the title says it is a Legal Guide for the Visual Artist. I wouldn't say the wording is the easiest or most interesting--it is law--but it definitely seems to be written in a way so that the artist can understand it. As someone who stumbles over law, I appreciated this book. The guide provides examples of forms that might be needed and gives examples of famous cases that have occurred with pictures to help in understanding them. The book is very helpful and pretty up to date, covering not only the older forms of art like painting and sculpture, but also new forms like digital imagery. As an artist, if you are going to get one art law book, buy this one.
