Kevin Smith, Michael Avon Oeming, Mike Allred. Popular Feature Film director/writer Kevin Smith (Chasing Amy, Dogma) brings his world famous slacker creations Jay and Silent Bob as their 'super-hero' personals : Bluntman and Chronic! Specifically timed to coincide with the release of Kevin's new film: "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back!". August 2001) This story is culled directly from what will become one of the summer's biggest smash releases! A photo cover ensures instant sales from film and movie buffs.

It was written by Kevin Smith with art by Michael Avon Oeming and Neil Vokes. In the first issue, after encountering several comic book references, Jay and Silent Bob win the lottery and decide to become superheroes. After Bob handles most of the gadget work, the two don the names Bluntman and Chronic. In the second issue, some of the nemeses of Bluntman and Chronic, such as Cock-Knocker and Dickhead, reveal their origins to fellow supervillain inmates and a psychiatrist.

Bluntman and Chronic book. The art is great, as you would expect from Michael Avon Oeming, and kind of reminds me of the Clerks animated series. Bluntman & Chronic is the comic book that Holden McNeil & Banky Edwards were working on in Chasing Amy. Now Smith fans can read the comic book that the two were working on, the comic book that sets up the premise for Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Bottom line: a fun read for Bluntman and Chronic, Jay and Silent Bob, and Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes fans.

The book is portrayed as a collection of the three issues written by Banky Edwards and Holden McNeil in Chasing Amy. It was written by Kevin Smith with art by Michael Avon Oeming and Neil Vokes. Free Comics Download.

  • Finally! I was waiting to buy this comic so long ago ...

I am a huge Kevin Smith fan and of course I love the characters of Jay and Silent Bob. This comic actually brings em to new adventures and a lot of funny puns.

Totally recommend it to any Kevin Smith fan. BUNG!

  • Comic came fast but the spine was a little bent. Seemed like nearly new.

  • Loved the fact it was sent as it was posted the little person note made it 10x better I greatly appreciate it!!

  • I'm a huge Keven Smith fan and love all things Viewaskew!

  • Word cannot express how much I love kevs writing! I laughed, I cried, and I pooped my pants! Bluntman and Chronic are great!

  • While I know that saying "you have to have seen & liked the other Kevin Smith stuff" seems like a no brainer, there's very much the possibility that someone could pick up this comic & not have been aware of the universe this is a part of. So if you are new to the Kevin Smith world, you'll want to pass over this until you have at least seen Chasing Amy,Mallrats, & Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Those three movies (especially the last one) will give you a good background on the characters, the comic & the overall tone of Smith's work. If you didn't like those movies, well... you aren't going to like this book.

Bluntman & Chronic is the comic book that Holden McNeil & Banky Edwards were working on in Chasing Amy. Now Smith fans can read the comic book that the two were working on, the comic book that sets up the premise for Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.

Overall, I liked the comic well enough. It's got decent artwork that I've come to expect from the View Askew people & I feel that the playful feeling of the art really does help to establish the tongue in cheek ribbing that is aimed at the comic book world in general. The only problem is that this comic really doesn't do anything to make it stand on it's own & much of the humor in it is pretty repetitive. Luckily the comic is pretty short, so the repetitive jokes aren't really repeated for all that long. It's just that after having read some of the other comics put out by Kevin Smith, this really isn't one of the better ones.

Basically, this is something that collectors & die-hards might want to get, but everyone else might want to just borrow their friend's copy instead.

  • Anyone who feels like comic books are exclusively a medium for children would be more than a little surprised by Kevin Smith's histerical "Bluntman and Chronic" graphic novel. Allegedly by "Holden McNeil and Banky Edwards" (the comic book creators in Kevin Smith's movie "Chasing Amy"), this follows a pair of stoner superheroes based on View Askew stars Jay and Silent Bob.
Kevin Smith fans will enjoy this because of the over-the-top comedy and frequent references to the "Askewniverse." But even the steady comic book fan will split a gut reading this book, because just as "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" made fun of any and all movies, THIS makes fun of any and all comic books, with goofs on Green Lantern, Batman, Spider-Man and even a couple of characters near and dear to Kevin Smith himself -- Daredevil and Green Arrow.
A funny, funny book. Check it out.

  • Finally, the LONG delayed Bluntman & Chronic Graphic Novel!! Was the wait worth it? Oh yea!!

Kevin Smith and Mike Avon Oeming (Under the guise of Banky Edwards and Holden McNeil) deliver big laughs as they tell the origin of the "Queer Duo" and their arch-enemies, whose group name is hilariously unprintable (At least here....). Comic book lovers will especially enjoy the loving jabs Smith takes at the origins of Green Lantern, Spider-Man, Captain America, and Daredevil, among others. The book also includes the hard-to-find story from Oni Double Feature, in color for the first time. All in all, a great book, loaded with laughs. (And MUCH more obscene than you could ever imagine!!)
