Morrison, a Feast of Friends Paperback – March 1, 1991. This is one of the very few impartial books I've read about Jim Morrison where the author isn't crying about other people "misunderstanding" Morrison, or demanding that their perception be accepted as reality. Frank Lisciandro (Author). Also, this is the first and only time Babe Hill speaks. The overall impression one gets is that Morrison was living an eternal moment that could not last, so to speak.

Produced by The Doors. Album An American Prayer. A Feast Of Friends Lyrics. Wow, I'm sick of doubt Live in the light of certain South Cruel bindings The servants have the power Dog-men and their mean women Pulling poor blankets over Our sailors. I'm sick of dour faces Staring at me from the TV tower I want roses in My garden bower; dig? Royal babies, rubies Must now replace aborted Strangers in the mud These mutants, blood-meal For the plant that's plowed.

  • This books has terrific photos of Jim Morrison. With the photos you get pages of anecdotes from people who knew him or who were with him at the time of his music career. I enjoyed every page, and it's not easy to find. I had to order it on Amazon, so be ready to pay for it!
I just sold my copy, and looking back that was a mistake. Jim was a truly original and gifted performer at a time of social upheaval.
Glad the Doors happened, and reading this gives you a lot of the inside tales most people have never heard about. Great job!

  • It's nice to finally know the real Jim Morrison from stories of the people who actually knew him and not the myth. The other side of Jim Morrison needs to be shown to counter act the character assassination by the Oliver Stone movie. Not that Jim Morrison didn't have his problems, but there was a whole other side to the man. Oliver Stone just wanted to make money off of the myth.

  • This is a great book about James Douglas Morrison. There are unbiased interviews from friends and others who were close to him. They share there stories, and you will see all sides of Jim. Not just the over-exaggerated parts. You will see how Jim was very caring, good listener, and helpful. But there are also memories of his wild side also. All in all this is a good book, you will also get to see how Jim talked, walked and behaved behind these closed and open doors with friends. so come on, baby, take a chance with this book.

  • Read probably dozen books and anything I can read that may give me any insight to the doors and their music I read and some books repeat what we already know and others give that new glimpse of insight

  • Great pictures! Some of them I have never seen before and I am a collector of all things Jim Morrison. The written part might have been "fudged" a little. It contains interviews of people who knew Jim and were close to him, but, excludes The Doors (Ray, Robby, and John) stating that the other Doors have already had their say about Jim. I found this a little disappointing. The book seems a little biased against the other Doors who I believe did genuinally love Jim with all his different moods and personas. Some of the interviews mysteriously sound alike (even using the same words and phrasing). . . I am not sure what to make of this. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in Jim, though, because the photos are excellent and some very rare. The pictures more than make up for the questionable accuracy of the interviews.

  • I've read many and this is by far the best I've read ... so far. Large format book with a lot of pictures as well.

  • Have been a Doors fan since about 1967. Have probably read every book published about Morrison. This one was especially uninteresting. Photos were boring. Nothing to see here...

  • This is one of my favorite books about Jim Morrison. We all know there are too many books written about Jim, many from people who never knew him, claim to have known him, claim to have dated him etc....But this is authored by one of Jim's closest friends who has gathered stories about Jim from people who were closest to him. There are so many sweet accounts of jim's generosity, kindness, compassion, intelligence, talent, sense of humor and much more. The pictures are all fabulous. I treasure this book, and pick it up and browse through it all the time. If you love Jim, and want to learn about him from his closest friends-not members of the Doors rehashing all the same myths, then you must own this book.
