Written by civil rights leader and poet James Weldon Johnson in 1899, "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing" is sung in schools and churches throughout America. The popular, timeless song is recognized as a testimonial to the struggle and achievements of African-American people past, present, and future.
  • This is one of the most beautiful picture books I have seen. Each page has a beautiful painting of an African child along with the words of the song "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing" by James Weldon Johnson. When I saw the book on Amazon, I knew I had to have it. I bought it used but it came in perfect condition with no tears or bent pages & it arrived quicker than I expected. Since the piano music is included in the back, I keep it on my piano.

  • Beautiful illustrations - It is a coffee table book at my house.

  • Awesone

  • awesome!

  • I love the illustrations in this book. They beautifully illustrate such a vivid text. I use this book in my music classroom and the students are always enamored with the pictures.

  • my students love the pictures.

  • Very Good

  • This is a great book for students to learn the Black National Anthem. It is best to play the instrumental in the background as you sing this song to students. The illustrations are great. This is a wonderful read for Black History month.
