Offers advice on creating watercolor landscapes and still lifes, suggests practice exercises, and tells how to work with color
  • As a newbe to watercolors, I thought this was an excellent book. The exercises explained how to paint each picture. They showed me how to eliminate hard edges and make a smooth transition from dark to light. The flowers looked simple to paint; however, they really made me focus on the changes in value. I would recommend this book to any watercolor artist or educator. I constantly refer to it.

  • I love this book. The compositions are original, the style like no other. Great tips and exercises to take your paintings to the next level.

  • Love, love, love it. There is so much that can be applied - both theoretical and practical. Great command of the medium and well explained.

  • I am thrilled to have this book. Richard was my professor at NYC Tech and I had the privilege to learn from him.
The book is beautifully put together!

  • This is my favorite of the many watercolor and painting books I own or have looked at. In addition to the strong and bright colors, what I most appreciate about the author is that he creates very beautiful paintings often using a wet on dry technique. Many books seems to suggest that wet on wet is THE way to paint with watercolor. This book shows that this isn't the only way to use watercolor.

  • Richard Karwoski was a noted watercolorist with a fresh eye who went beyond the bounds of design and use of the medium at the time. An exciting excursion through his thinking process bound to inspire!
