Wendy Jelbert begins this book by asking the question 'why sketch?'. Her answer is that it is the best way to record inspirational scenes and to capture special moments. Using pen line and wash, Wendy creates inspirational paintings for those who love to sketch and paint. She uses a loose, fresh technique that is ideal for both sketching and finished artworks. I am new to watercolour and pen and wash techniques; have tried it in the past and failed. This book is a great teaching tool however, as it guides one from the initial quick sketch to finished paintings in a very practical organised manner.

Merge soft luminous washes with the markings of penwork. Each painting process is illustrated with step-by-steps. Includes gallery of finished works. This book will encourage painters.

If you are in to watercolour you will very much appreciate this one. Mine came from Amazon where I always get the best deal.Line & Wash: Watercolour & Pen Techniques

  • I paid over 20 dollars and when it came I was disappointed. It is a thin paper booklet. It does have some good instruction in it, not much, however WAY over priced.

  • This book gives a thorough, clear, straightforward description of the line and wash watercolor technique. It gives advice in a relaxed manner, very well suited for hobby watercolorists like myself.

  • Looking for a instructional book on how to do pen and wash, fantastic, love it

  • Great book.....a little limited, but what is included is good! Perfect if you can find a good reduced price copy.

  • less about line and more about just general watercolor, but
good place to begin in line and wash. Peter Woolley is much
    better with this subject.

  • I enjoyed doing artwork guided by this book

  • Need another one of her books..
