My other gripe with most of the books like this that I've seen is that they acknowledge that the market for Broadway actors is tiny, but all of the advice in the book is still geared toward that end and not good performance in regional and community theater. That said, the interviews with folks like Gene Kelly, George Hearn, Bernadette Peters, Nancy Walker, and Lee Remick which make up the bulk of the book were interesting. May 16, 2009 David Olsen rated it it was amazing. Top notch advice from a man of much experience in the biz.

Craig developed a widely praised technique for performing in musical theater. The actress Lee Grant, for one, called him ''a master at creating exercises that released talent. Among those who studied with him were Roddy McDowall, Cyd Charisse, Barbara Harris, Lucille Ball, Raquel Welch, Tony Roberts and Cicely Tyson. After attending the Juilliard School and City College in Manhattan, Mr. Craig began teaching in 1948. He was the author of ''On Singing Onstage,'' ''On Performing: A Handbook for Actors, Dancers and Singers'' and ''A Performer Prepares. Mr. Craig's wife, the actress Nancy Walker, died in 1992. He is survived by his daughter, of Studio City.

Craig Ashley David (born 5 May 1981) is a British singer, songwriter, rapper, DJ and record producer who rose to fame in 1999, featuring on the single "Re-Rewind" by Artful Dodger. David's debut studio album, Born to Do It, was released in 2000, after which he has released a further five studio albums and worked with a variety of artists such as: Tinchy Stryder, Big Narstie, Kano and Jay Sean
