Graf is a gifted storyteller, his spinning of baseball history is insightful and entertaining. I enjoyed reading this book during Lent. It taught me things that I did not know about the Bible or baseball. Where it gets tough is his biblical exegesis, which has all the subtlety and insight of an undergraduate theology minor. The baseball explanations made the Bible stories simpler to understand.

Amusing and Thought-Provoking Parallels Between the Bible and Baseball. Just finished this book and it was FABULOUS! Haven't seen anything like it before. Who would have thought baseball and the Bible would have that much in common? I'd recommend this book.

Amusing and Thought-Provoking Parallels Between the Bible and Baseball. It's thought-provoking and a quick read, too. Made me an even bigger fan of baseball and religion. Published by Thriftbooks. com User, 14 years ago. I'll be honest. I've always been a, shall I say, "more frequent" fan of baseball than of religion. This book will have an impact on that. That it was an interesting baseball read was not the surprising part.

On any Sunday, you can bet some are brought closer to the spirit of the sport while others are more connected to the bible. The twenty chapters in this book compare football and the bible-with remarkable results Forgiveness and good works were just pre-game drills for the Lords true purpose here on earth. God rested on Sunday. Football is mostly played on Sunday. Coincidence? I think not.

  • I thought I would really enjoy this book, but I couldn't get into it. It's more of a stream of consciousness style. It would be perfect for a hardcore baseball fan Christian, though.

  • Bought for my grandson who attends church and loves (and plays) the sport, he's enjoying it. As he is not a great sit down reader, would rather be outside or playing with his electronics. I need to find something that will interest him, even if just for awhile, this seems to have done the trick

  • You wonder what the author will write next and which biblical application he will use! I kept turning the pages to see what he would say next. Not sure I agree with all his comparisons but it was a fun read.

  • As a huge fan of baseball and a huge "fan" of God, I found this book to be amusing and insightful. Truly proves that God is all around us. All we need to do is open our eyes and see; open our ears and hear. Amen.

  • easy reading with cross references to the Bible. if you love baseball and you love the Lord this is a good book to read. this book remembers what baseball use to be. it was like '' deja vu all over again'' Yogi Berra

  • It's cute and funny at times, but seriously attempting to connect God and baseball is a bit of a stretch. I enjoyed it for the anecdotes.

  • Great book, thought provoking and a unique look at the bible
