Tabernacle Shadows of the Better Sacrifices. Author: Charles Taze Russell. Charles Taze Russell (1852–1916), or Pastor Russell, was the original founder of what is now known as the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Tabernacle Shadows of the Better Sacrifices. Publisher: Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society. A charismatic speaker and ardent minister, Russell began publishing Zion’s Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence (still published today as The Watchtower) in 1879. He cofounded Zion’s Watch Tower Tract Society in 1884.

Examines over 700 Scriptures from the Old and New Testaments.

This book is a complete study including diagrams, illustrations and a Scriptures index.

For over 500 years God's presence was manifested to the nation of Israel through this tent of meeting called the "Tabernacle." It was demonstrated during their wilderness wanderings by a pillar of fire by night over the "Most Holy" room of the Tabernacle and a cloud by day. Here Moses would actually speak with God, and the high priest would learn of God's judgments through the mysterious stones, the Urim and Thummim.

As fantastic as that was, it was God's plan to have the Tabernacle arrangement teach many wonderful and important lessons. The Apostle Paul states that the Tabernacle and the priests who served it are but an example or shadow of heavenly (spiritual) things. This book briefly considers some of the lessons that the Tabernacle symbolically teaches us.

  • thank you

  • For most Christians, the Tabernacle contains a multitude of largely disconnected pictures of Jesus alone. This book shows, based on the Apostle Pauls exposition, that it shows not only the sacrifice of Jesus, but the place of the Christian also, and how we have privileges and responsibilities, too. It is fascinating to look at all the details and what they illustrate.

  • This is an excellent Bible study aid on the Tabernacle, I have read many books explaining the subject, but found the author's findings and exposition on this subject very enlightning, I highly recommend it to all students of the Word, especially those who wish to gain better insight on the tabernacle and its types and shadows and what it means to Christians today.

  • What an incredible book. Never had I looked at what I thought was the most boring part of the Bible, and now see it was a type for the Church today. A short book, but one that will never be forgotten.

  • It is curious that one one the more significant achievements of "Pastor" Charles Taze Russell is omitted above. That fact is that he was the primary founder of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, and the religion now known as "Jehovah's Witnesses." No small amount of his theology is controversial in the body of the Church as a whole, as it would be (for different reasons, perhaps) amongst Jehovah's Witnesses.

  • [...]

I would not recommend this book. Russell does make some remarkable findings, however, his theology is corrupt and he is a party to a cult.
