Better than the ignorant are those who read books; better still are those who retain what they read; even better are those who understand it; the best of all are those who go to work. The best books are those which lift us to a higher plane where we breathe a purer atmosphere. Orison Swett Marden. Except a living man there is nothing more wonderful than a book! A message to us from the dead, – from human souls whom we never saw, who lived perhaps thousands of miles away; and yet these, on those little sheets of paper, speak to us, teach us, comfort us, open their hearts to us as brothers.

Lives well-lived, not just words eloquently spoken, must become our response. The quality of our relationship with God is what will influence the health, potency, and witness of the church in an increasingly complex and hostile world. Designed for use as a college or seminary course, Conformed to His Image helps us build our lives on a fully biblical perspective. Exploring twelve approaches to Christian spirituality in depth, Dr. Kenneth Boa corrects our tendency to pick and compartmentalize.

  • I've used a devotional/prayer book written by Kenneth Boa for years now and I was interested in seeing if this would be a good study. I really like it. It's the typical "read this verse" "what do you think about it" format, but it also has some interesting application side notes with each chapter. Another great thing is it has most of the verses to read right there in the margin on the same page. I'm half way through it and I'll most likely buy another one on a different topic when I'm through.

  • I was looking for a book that spoke to the youth, that spoke of the wisdom that is to be gained from Proverbs, but that could be read like the father's side of a conversation between a father and his son today. Instead, I got a detailed commentary that required the reader to continually refer back to the bible and do exercises. There is enough of that sort of thing out there already.
