  • I purchased this for a gift for someone who is interested in the Culture. I live near an Amish Community , the book is not very deep; but is acceptable for the uninformed public.

  • This book was really interesting, and very informative. My in-laws live just one street over from an amish group, and I was always very curious about them and loved any chance to talk with them. This book made me much smarter about their way of life and the specifics of their day to day activities as well as life events such as dating and marriage. The only part I didn't like was some of the author's comments at the end of the sections. They assumed that everyone reading the book was from a Christian background -- which while that does apply to me -- would certainly not be the case for every reader.

  • After visiting an Amish Community I felt driven to learn more about the way of life of the people. This book from Amazon was downloaded on Kindle as soon as I found it to assist in my learning more regarding values, religion and life style of these good people. A very enjoyable read leaving me wanting more.A Pocket Guide to Amish Life

  • People are people with differing beliefs. Amish stick to their Beliefs.
Yes . Some cultural, educational & religious differences exist..
Local Ordnung adoptions may cause the tinge of mystery.

  • Love it!

  • After reading a number of fiction novels based in Amish country, PA, I was interested in learning more about this group. The book is a quick and easy way to do so. I thought it was quite helpful, but would have liked some information about the original immigrants from Europe.

  • I have already enjoyed Mindy Starns Clark's fiction set in Amish country. This guide is just as informative as I thought it would be. It's an excellent resource, and I recommend it for anyone wishing to know more about the Amish.

  • Having great-grandparents who were Amish, this was an informative book. The short chapters held a lot of information that was written concisely.
