There are many scientific trivia that can be gleaned as well. The last insight really says it all, if there is no God, what's the point? Surely every man walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, And does not know who will gather them. And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You. -Psalm 39:6-7.

Every writer needs inspiration," says author Mark Winter, "and mine came while cooking hamburgers. I said, to no one in particular, 'If there's no God, who's painting that beautiful picture in the sky?'"

God intends for us to enjoy him in his gifts. Don’t miss the Giver in the everyday stuff of life. That’s what sex is for: to know God, taste God. And we know something of his worth because we have coveted gold, and even our sins bear witness to his worth. So, whatever action is good in this life, whatever idea is good and true, whatever thing you see or hear or taste or touch, God’s creation - all of it - is designed by God as a sign and a foretaste of what it’s like to enjoy God himself. Small Mercies is intended to help second-half-of-life women develop a deeper faith by seeking God in the imperfections of everyday life rather than "limiting" God to those rare moments when everything seems perfect. People who are only nominally spiritual have relatively little trouble sensing some sort of Divine presence when looking up at a beautiful snow-capped mountain or looking around in a grand cathedral.

A series of intriguing, humorous, scientific, and heart-tugging questions-and answers-that point to the activity of a Creator God.
  • Dear Christians and Seekers,
I ran across this little book more than 20 years ago. The simple message of the amazing creation we live in strengthened my faith and I have purchased several to share with others. It is a quick read and makes you think about hummingbirds for do they hover? and how many times do their wings move in a minute? I am hoping another printing will happen.

  • A very creative and simple read! The order was as expected, prompt delivery.

  • This book says it all very simply, but really makes you stop to think about "If There is No God", how does all this happen and work. A great book to have or give as a gift.

  • A great little book. Very Inspirational.

  • Good book points our the GOOD BOOK!

  • A small book that will fit easily into a purse or a briefcase, IF THERE IS NO GOD offers questions that range from the light ("then who commands the wildflowers to bloom?") to the unexpectedly powerful ("what is the antidote to evil?") In each instance the question is followed a short comment and a scripture that amplifies the theme.

This book will never convert a non-believer, nor does it attempt to answer deep theological questions--but Christians will find it enjoyable nonetheless, for it offers points to ponder in a very painless way and thereby opens the door to more complex thought. It would make a charming gift for a Christian friend, and I have used it as such on several occasions.
