  • Wanda Brunstetter never disappoints me, every book I've read that she has written has been great!

What a great book that shows God's love for those whom love Him. It also shows how He loves to answer prayer.

This was a great love story that had a lot of surprises. There was a great message of hope, the importance of waiting for His timing, the importance of patience and provide that prayer can change even the most stubborn hearts.

I would highly recommend this book!

  • Enjoyed this book by Wanda Brunstetter. Kelley kind of had a hard life helping to tow a boat along a canal. Her father was very harsh toward her. He treated her more like a hired worker. The storekeeper had taken a liking to her after he saw her all grown up. He even offered to sell her drawings. Mike love for Kelley grew each time he saw her. Her father was a very hard man to please. So that made Kelley not putting her trust in men. Though she started to put her trust in Mike by letting him sell her drawings. Her time away from Mike brought new and different feelings to Kelley. When she returned and thought she was going to loose Mike to a swimming accident she dove in and saved him. Then she declared her love as he did for her. Looking forward to reading more in this series.

  • Very good fast paced read, finished in a few hours. Nice clean romance with just enough drama and family issues that keeps the pages turning. Like this author's books.

  • Kelly McGregor drives the stubborn mules along the Lehigh Canal to pull her father’s loads each day, but her real love is art. When Mike Cooper agrees to put some of her work in his store, she doesn’t think they’ll sell. She tries to ignore how nice Mike is, because she doesn’t want to end up in a marriage like her parents’. However, the more she sees of Mike, the more she comes to realize he just might be different.

I thoroughly enjoyed these characters and this novel. It was a well-written story that pulled me in from the opening page and didn’t let me go until the final one.

  • Absolutely loved this story.
    Will read again.
As I was reading I was visualizing the scenery and characters as Wanda Brunstetter describe them.
    A lesson in history also.
Kelly walks the mules that pulls her parents canalboat from sunraise to sunset.
She loves to draw and dreams about opening her own art gallery one day.
A story of faith, love, hopes and dreams.
Once I started reading I didn't want to put the book down.
    Very well written.

  • Wonderful story full of historical information about the canal and the men who worked it. Also a bit of romance. In this book we meet Betsy, the preacher's daughter, who loses the man she is chasing to Kelly. Kelly wishes to pursue her love of drawing what she sees along the canal and is not really looking for romance. Betsy then moves on and we learn more about her in the next book. Very interesting read and keeps focus on Christian values.

  • Interesting about the locks and canal. Kelly's dad was a bit selfish and never paid his daughter for the hard work they did. It was like he thought they owed him. Kelly leaves some of her drawing at the store to try to make some money but the store owner is as interested in her as he is the drawings.

  • My thoughts as I read through this book was that it could have easily been written by a highschooler. Just a very simple story where, although there are challenges, everything is resolved easily and predictably. Definitely a Christian novel, but not too overbearing. No graphic love scenes. Perfectly edited, as far as grammar, punctuation, and spelling are concerned. An easy read. So predictable that it borders on boring.
