Only 8 left in stock (more on the way). Having this book in 2006 (when we began our 10+ year site-wide migration journey) would have saved us many hours and dollars learning the details and concepts (and encountering many of the issues) Roessler covers so well.

THE FIRST MIGRATION Dr. Darren Stewart, world-renowned physicist in charge of NASA's massive time travel complex in the White Sands Missile Range, needs to get a life but has no idea how-until he meets White House deputy press secretary Tracey Loring. After a weekend rendezvous in Santa Fe, a romance blossoms between the two. Concerned that the successful development of time travel capability represents a threat, members of an advanced civilization from a distant time kidnap Darren. Under the authority of the president of the United States, Tracey assembles a skeleton crew and activates NASA's experimental facility to attempt a rescue. Darren and Tracey are reunited but become entangled in a conflict between two civilizations, each competing for its own survival. In their endeavor to broker a peaceful resolution, Darren and Tracey unravel the mystery of UFOs, unlock the secret of the pyramids and discover the missing link to our human origins. About the Author Daniel Logan lived in the Southwest for a brief time as a boy and retains vivid memories of its culture and spectacular geography. Years later, his visits to the majestic, red-rock terrain of the land of the Anasazi-the Ancient Ones-convinced him that a space/time connection exists there. His novel, The First Migration, brings that connection to life . After completing a corporate career, the author and his wife, Connie, moved to Morse Reservoir near his hometown of Carmel, Indiana, where he is writing his next novel.
  • The book started out great and moved along quite nicely but then devolved into a screed of quite modern origin. For instance, left unexplained, but hinted at, was how a high order of mammal (The Old Ones) evolved on a planet where the next highest order were reptiles. And, if extra-terrestrial in origin, how come the genotype of The Old Ones is 98% the same as Chimpanzees, and to a lesser degree, primates in general that were to evolve later?
Be advised, I am aware of literary license, the ever-ready catch all to explain abnormalities in the writing. Speaking of license, the last 10% of the book reveals that because a look at the near future of Earth via time machine reveals that unless we all go out and buy Volts the whole planet is going to cook off. As usual, it's all our fault. I grow so weary of authors transitioning from telling a story to preaching the gospel according to Al Gore! If you're as tired as the rest of us, cut to the Epilogue when they start talking about checking out the future 500 years hence, otherwise the first 90% is a pretty cool ride.

  • A nice blend of history, supposition, science and science fiction. But remember some of Jules Verne's science fiction became realities.

  • A fast paced, well thought out novel of how we on the earth came to be here. Logan assembles just enough science to make you think it might just have happened the way he describes and, most importantly, sprinkles his book with both believable characters, including the President, and characters you care about.

This is not a science fiction novel but a novel about science and myth which Logan handles well. No BEM's in this book.

    A very good read.
