  • This book is flirty, and fun. to read. I love Felicia Mason from her trilogy Seductive Hearts to this. I enjoyed this
from the characters to the way it was written. (even though I overlooked some errors, as a writer it happens)
    A MUST READ!

  • Wonderful!!!

  • Marcus Ambrose decides to take a break from his grueling schedule as a popular R&B star and participate in a musical festival in a small town in Oregon.

Dr. Kara Spencer, best friend to Haley Cartwright featured in a prior Mason novel "Sweet Accord", is a local psychologist with a big heart for helping the town's youth. She, for one, is not impressed with the `great' Marcus Ambrose. She is repelled by his secular, worldly music and cocky attitude. He is the exact opposite of the humbly, godly man that Kara seeks in a mate. Or so it seems...

Marcus sets out on a mission to change Kara's mind about him. He is a man who loves God and for years has been seeking a way to express his spirituality through inspirational music. He wants to use his celebrity for good, but can he convince Kara that he is indeed the godly man she's been looking for? He has a tough job ahead of him as Kara is determined not to give in to her physical attraction to him.

Much like "Sweet Accord", the rural Oregon setting for the book makes you forget at times that this is a contemporary tale. The slow-paced life and small town America values are refreshing to the underlying Christian themes, however.

The story of Kara and Marcus is one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

  • This wasn't a very "soothing" Love Inspired book to read because the two protagonists were at odds throughout most of the story, although I was very pleased that they did interact respectfully, rather than with hostility, despite their differences. This story was about the dangers of judging people based on stereotypes, and that outwards appearances don't always reflect the true person inside. Was Marcus black? This was implied, but I don't think it was stated clearly. I thought the author missed the opportunity to sensitively present this as a biracial relationship, which would have illustrated the spiritual lessons of the story even more definitively.

There were a lot of secondary characters to keep track of, and it wasn't until I read the author's notes that followed the epilogue that I realized that this is the second book in a series, and each book focuses on a different couple. I have to be honest and say that I'm not left feeling inspired to read the other stories, which goes against my usual instincts to savor multibook series that are set in wonderful faith-based communities such as this one.

Felicia Mason writes an story of how stereotypes type can hinderers love and cause deference in life.

  • This was a good, Christian based book. No sex. A few kisses, with two people ending up in love, even though the path there is quite short and a bit unbelievable. They didn't even date. Just a few encounters over the course of a few weeks. This was okay, but I would have liked more interaction between the two characters rather than just having them realize their love at the end.
