  • Published in 1999, Mr. McDougall's book reads like a gossipy modern update to Scotch: Whisky of Scotland in Fact and Story by Lockhart, Sir Robert Bruce (1995) Paperback.

Relating his path through management in the drinks industry, this book is full of history and anecdotes of interest to those who already know a great deal about distilling and whisky and are in search of a light read.

  • The author is a whisky industry veteran. He worked at various distilleries in Scotland (and England). This is a personal story about making whisky and the people that James McDougall worked with...It is funny and insightful.

    Enjoy...

  • An interesting story about a gentleman's developing career as he works through a succession of single malt distilleries in Scotland. This book blends his experiences from the distilleries and life along with interesting facts. If you enjoy the dram or have been to the Highlands or Hebrides of Scotland, this autobiography will be a page turner.

  • If you have a great fondness for single malt whisky, this is a wonderful read. Full of information and interesting characters.

  • If you love Single Malts, then this book is a value to add to your collection. It gives you a look inside the industry as it has developed over the last 40 years from a personal perspective. That being said, it is not a be all-end all-tell all book of the industry. So do not look at this as a great history of Whisky making these last 40 years. Just as a reflection on one man's journey within the industry.

  • This is a fantastic book! No one has ever published a tell all book about the Whisky industry let alone a biography. John McDougall is truely a Scottish Legend. His life experiences are things one would never read in a distillery brochure.
    Slaite!
