Stolen in the Night book. Shasta Groene is the personification of a modern-day miracle.

Stolen in the Night book. Perhaps Stolen in the Night would have better served to exemplify her story of survival than to trek down the twisted path of her torturer. But unfortunately, it is the horrific and bizarre which draws the masses, and the humanity behind the tragedy gets tossed over for the freak show. Gary C. King's obvious talents and writing skills seem to have been wasted on this effort.

Stolen in the Night: The True Story of a Family's Murder, a Kidnapping and the Child Who Survived. He chose his murder weapon and loaded a video camera. have multiple sclerosis and its now effecting my sight and frontal lobe s.

What others are saying.

Joseph Duncan had been convicted of raping and torturing a 14-year-old boy in Tacoma, Washington. On the Internet he proudly boasted of his perversions. But the system turned Duncan loose, and no one would stop him from committing an even more horrifying act...

This time, he prepared meticulously. He chose his getaway car. He chose his murder weapon and loaded a video camera. Then, when he saw young Shasta and Dylan Groene playing outside their Idaho home, he struck―killing their mother and her boyfriend, and their older brother…and vanishing into the night with Shasta and Dylan.

Detectives pored over the bloody murder scene. The FBI scrambled to find the children and the abductor. And even when Duncan was finally located, the story was not yet over: Dylan was still missing…and the depth of one man's evil was still coming horribly to light….

  • As an mentioned police detective in this case, I was aware of most all of Edward Duncan's involvement. I found this book to be factual and complete up to his guilty pleas on all felony counts. I testified at his sentencing on this case and the jury deliberated only 3 hours before giving Duncan the death penalty. I await the day that justice is served to put this case to rest.

  • Heart breaking story of a horrific true crime. Well written, does not sensationalize the story to the point where you feel you are enjoying someone else's misery - I hate that kind of book. But this is an excellent accounting of a terrible crime told with honest and compassion for the victims.

  • This interesting book is about Joseph Duncan a child molester turned murderer. The book follows his other child rape cases, his cross dressing, his anger at society over incacerating him for his previous molestation crimes and in his own words he vowed to get even with society when he got out.He bailed out from a molestation case and murdered a family of 4 (2 adults,2 kids)kidnapped 2 of the small kids, finally getting captured with one small young girl, brave Shasta still alive.A book about a real life boogey-man.

  • There are crimes so terrible that they change our culture, and this is one of them.

    This man is pure evil.

  • Gary King is right up there with the big boys and girls of true crime writing. Truth indeed is stranger than fiction. King covered every angle leaving no stone unturned. It will scare you and make you wonder who is watching. Jeanne Kosek

  • Great

  • After living through the news of these extremely horrific events (we lived no more than 15 miles away) it was great to read the facts as they
    happened.

  • Interesting read.
