  • In terms of textbooks, I have to give this book high praise.

I bought it for an HR class. There were no assigned readings, but I wanted the background because I do not work in HR.

Human Resources can be a dry subject, but this book made it interesting. The concepts were well-developed from a solid foundation. The chapters were easy to read, and they were broken up into relevant subsections.

I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised.

  • What is there to say? It's a book. It's the same book they said it would be. Had a few dents and creases on and in it. So what? I purchased it for school and it worked. Had words in it and everything, but I only really looked at the pictures. They are who we thought they were. Impressive? Meh. But what human resource management book is? If you need it get it.

  • Let me begin by saying, this is not a bad book. On the flip side of that, however, I found the book to be completely predictable and basic in its level of complexity. I purchased this book as part of a graduate course and it is not graduate level. This would be perfect for a max 200 level "Introduction to HR" undergraduate course. The upsides of the book is that it does cover pretty much all of the major facets a person should know about HR and does get into lots of the nooks and crannies, just in a very basic way. The part of the book that I felt it was lacking in is in connecting the knowledge presented with decision making for strategic, high-level managers.

  • I ordered this book to use for a HR class I was taking as part of my MBA program. This book was a great resource and clearly discusses HR Management. This book includes notes at the ed of each chapter that highlight the important info. As a supervisor I keep this book as a reference in my office and believe it would be a good tool for both HR professionals and those in supervisory/managerial positions.

  • Had to dowload kindle app just to rent this book for the semester. Very good decision. I had access to the book on all my devices with the app, it was convenient, and the kindle version had a lot of materials to aide reading. Also it Saved me stress of mailing book back to the store because it's an e-version so on expiration the access just ends.

  • it doesn't transfer to your android device. It's terrible.

  • This book covers alot...and as the title says it is the esentials version. It is much smaller than the fulll version but it provides great insight to what an ideal HR would be. It goes into detail about important things in the workplace that are illegal. It was a book I really enjoyed despite having to get it for school.

  • Good book for HR Managers. This is a complete review of the course and area of interest. Great aid for college classes in human resources.
