The right person can empower you to take action, overcome setbacks, and maintain your focus. Career coaches are not magicians; they don’t promise you’ll be hired after an interview, and they don’t guarantee job placement.

The right person can empower you to take action, overcome setbacks, and maintain your focus. A Career Coach Can’t Change Your Life Overnight. When you’re in the midst of a mid-career crisis or professional reinvention, the right career coach can be a lifesaver, helping you identify potential future directions and the path to reach them

When you’re in the midst of a mid-career crisis or professional reinvention, the right career coach can be a lifesaver, helping you identify potential future directions and the path to reach them. But how do you find the right one? As an unregulated industry, anyone can hang a shingle and declare themselves a career coach, an executive coach, or even a life coach. Some are talented and knowledgeable, and others not so much. Since writing Reinventing You, I’ve often been asked for recommendations about hiring a career coach.

Career Coach will teach you how to develop a targeted, proactive marketing campaign that will help you to find the job that you want in the least amount of time! Finding a job that you like can be an overwhelming process. Without a proven Career Coach to refer to, it can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. It gives you proactive information that you can use right now to manage your job search from beginning to end. Corporate restructuring, global competition and exponential change have had an immense impact on the way we live and work. Lifetime employment with one employer is a thing of the past. In fact, you will probably change jobs a minimum of seven times during your working years. However, like most job seekers you probably have had little or no training in how to actually find your ideal job. You spend a lot of time wishing and hoping, relying on passive methods like Internet job postings, classified ads, employment agencies and resume blitzes to find a job. The result is a downward spiral of frustration, confusion and wasted time. The Career Coach book will change all that by providing a process for conducting a targeted, proactive marketing campaign that will help you find the job you want right now.
  • What a great book!

As an employer for 25 years how I wish that applicants to our firm had studied this book.

It is full of solid and practical suggestions and will almost certainly help anyone searching for new employment.

For the inexperienced job searcher it is gold dust - read it all and then read it again.

For the person who has been there, done it and knows it all already ..... Read this book carefully, even though parts may seem like statements of the blindingly obvious. You will almost certainly realize, with some surprise, that you can improve both your confidence and your chances of that job by a large degree.

  • If more of the people would read this book before they interviewed with me, they would have had a better chance at getting a job (or even more money). Don't waste the time of the interviewer. Before you go for your next job interview, invest the small amount time and money to read this book.

  • This is the most comprehensive easy -to -read book available if you are starting a job search. I brought one each for my 2 college students who will graduate next year. This book will give them a great head start. In addition I have found it very useful for corporate clients who are looking to switch careers or industries. Linda takes a common sense approach and gives many valuable tips and examples that lower the stress of putting together a resume or preparing for an interview.
