Native Hawaiians are a race of people. Hawaiians almost became extinct. I have this book on my shelf at home and reread it once a year so that I never forget what my ancestors lived through

Native Hawaiians are a race of people. Hawai'i was an independent and sovereign nation. Hawaiians are not named for the state (think Californians, New Yorkers, Texans, etc). Unlike these other states, Hawai'i was actually named after its native people. Native Hawaiians, or Kanaka Maoli. I have this book on my shelf at home and reread it once a year so that I never forget what my ancestors lived through. It is Lili'uokalani's story of her life, the Hawaiian monarchy, and the illegal overthrow.

A work of spirituality and philosophy.
