Beatrix Potter loved the countryside and she spent much of her otherwise conventional Victorian childhood drawing and studying animals. Her passion for the natural world lay behind the creation of her famous series of little books. A particular source of inspiration was the English Lake District where she lived for the last thirty years of her life as a farmer and land conservationist, working with the National Trust.

Join Nutkin, his brother Twinkleberry and all his cousins as they make their way over to Owl Island to gather nuts. This is a Tale about a tail-a tail that belonged to a little red squirrel, and his name was Nutkin

This is a Tale about a tail-a tail that belonged to a little red squirrel, and his name was Nutkin. Are you ready for a tall tale of tails? Squirrel Nutkin is a naughty little squirrel with absolutely no manners at all. When all the other little squirrels go over to Owl Island to collect nuts on Old Brown Owl’s land, Squirrel Nutkin thinks making fun of Mr Owl is great fun, but he might not think so for long

  • I don't know if you have read the tale of Squirrel Nutkin, but you should. It is the story of a spicy little squirrel with no respect for the owl. He just don't care, he don't care at all, and he ain't gonna bend over backwards for permissions, or pleasantries.

I collect older tales, so this fit well into my collection, but I will admit, I became aware of the tale while watching Orange is the New black. It is one of the books they have a memorial for after the books in the library had to be burned due to bed bugs. I bought it as a joke, but it is a cute little tale. The grammar in the book doesn't seem as though this was a print that was common in America, and the text in the book seems to vary. It is not printed well, but still cute to have around for a book lover like me.

  • Exactly what I expected from Beatrix Potter. I've read her books for more years than I care to admit. Her books are ALWAYS entertaining. As a
child I loved them; as an adult they were read to my children; as a Gram they were read to my Grandchildren, as a Great Gram I hope to read them to my Great Grands. They are never fail entertainment! Young or Old, always worthwhile.

  • Given to my great-niece for her BD, she turned two yrs old. I gave it so my niece (her mother) would read to my great-niece to give her a love for reading, like I have and my Mother, and other family members as well. It's never too early to start reading, and these children's book are marvelous.

  • I have always loved Beatrix Potter books for children. But this publisher edition is a very poor quality. The pictures looked terrible both in color and presentation. The book was just glued together and will not last for many readings. Also the text printing looked like it had been photo copied and was not centered on each page. Very disappointed and not worth the price. It would have been much better to have purchased the hard back copy.

  • How can one go wrong with a Beatrix Potter story and for such a great price? I picked up a bunch of these short stories to read to my youngsters while we were on vacation. No need to carry a fifty pound bag of books on the road any more. The Kindle solved the problem with flying colors. If you haven't grown up with these books you'll love reading them to your children. Mine can't get enough. Since this is a short story I'm not going to give a synopsis here but just believe me when I say you can't go wrong. If you prefer a paper copy of this story and other Beatrix Potter books I highy suggest: [...]

  • I was very disappointed when I received this book. I bought it for my niece's 1st birthday. Online it's hard to tell the quality of the images. In person the photos are so pixelated you can actually see the blocks. It looks like someone took the original book and scanned it in on a low resolution. The pictures are small and hard to see. The cover is very grainy. I'm surprised they are selling it this way. As someone who know's graphic designers and has worked with printers, I was too embarrassed to give the book. So luckily I had ordered another book that took it's place I plan on returning this book because I will never read this to a child with these poor quality images.

  • Part of a gift set good quality and price original text and illustrations

  • The pictures were lovely.
