Alejandro Jodorowsky (also known as Alexandro Jodorowsky) is a Chilean film and theatre director .

Alejandro Jodorowsky (also known as Alexandro Jodorowsky) is a Chilean film and theatre director, screenwriter, playwright, actor, comic book writer, author, poet, mime, musician, and spiritual guru. If you know anything about Jodorowsky, you know he has an incredibly fertile and open minded imagination. Reading this book as an adult I still feel like I am barely grasping it’s true meaning.

Alejandro Jodorowsky (also known as Alexandro Jodorowsky) is a Chilean film and theatre director, screenwriter, playwright, actor . Written by Alexandro Jodorowsky and drawn by Moebius, this sci-fi epic remains to this day one of the pinnacles of the ninth art (as the French refer to comics) or any storytelling art for that matter.

The Incal (/ˈɪŋkəl/; French: L'Incal) is a French graphic novel series written by Alejandro Jodorowsky and originally illustrated by Jean Giraud. The Incal, with first pages originally released as Une aventure de John Difool ("A John Difool Adventure") in Métal hurlant and published by Les Humanoïdes Associés, introduced Jodorowsky's "Jodoverse" (or "Metabarons Universe"), a fictional universe in which his science fiction comics take place.

James Smart on The Incal by Alejandro Jodorowsky

James Smart on The Incal by Alejandro Jodorowsky. The hyperactive plot involves a MacGuffin called the Incal; the book's twists and turns are sometimes incomprehensible and sometimes tiresome – and there's a bit too much spiritual waffle along the way – but the "Jodoverse" is an inspired creation, and the pair render it quite brilliantly. The wonderful drawings capture strange worlds populated by technopriests, rubbish-dwelling mutants, doppelgängers, giant jellyfish, chiming forests of gems and jostling, selfish humanity.

Magazine-sized paperback.
  • Probably one of the most visionary graphic novel series ever created, an absolute must read.Jodorowsky and Moebius are known visionaries and this work has influenced countless other works including films, books and music

  • Kennedy's tendency to the absurd goes too far here. Strange invented concepts which somehow the characters just know and understand without being mentioned prior run throughout this volume, stretching suspension of disbelief. Not the best.

  • Very clever dialogue, great artwork, and interesting characters really make this graphic novel a nice read.

  • I wouldn't have had the chance to visit these ideas without a number of occurrences that I couldn't have planned.

  • This is the third of six volumes recounting the Incal series in a deluxe, oversized limited edition. Written by Alexandro Jodorowsky and drawn by Moebius, this sci-fi epic remains to this day one of the pinnacles of the ninth art (as the French refer to comics) or any storytelling art for that matter.

What's so great about this edition in particular is the jumbo size and the outstanding production values, both of which run directly counter to recent trends in comix publishing. I can't tell you how annoying it is to have to leaf through an undersized book, squinting all the way, because of some idiot's idea of a cost-cutting measure. Either publish the comic as it deserves to be published or get into some other business! But I digress...

Here at last is an edition that allows readers to immerse themselves in the masterly images of Moebius, savoring every detail, soaking up the eye-popping colors, glorying in the humor, exuberance, and inventiveness of the adventure.

Sure it costs a lot - relatively - (if you can even get it; the edition is limited to 999 copies) - but for the afficionado, there can be no question that this is a must-have: the only edition to truly do justice to the piece and well worth every penny.

  • The combination of wild story teller and master illustrator.
