Blame! (ブラム! Buramu!) is a cyberpunk manga written and illustrated by Tsutomu Nihei. Along the way, he encounters a wide variety of allies and enemies. This was Nihei's very first series, and was followed up with a prequel, an unfinished sequel, and a few spin-offs.

The Ninth Volume of Blame! was released in December of 2002 by Kodansha, and on August 7th, 2007 by TOKYOPOP. In the aftermath of an apocalyptic battle, all that remains in the world of Blame! is grim - Killy is on the brink of death, and Cibo's fusion with the Level 9 Safeguard unit has reduced her once-impressive intellect to that of a child.

In the aftermath of an apocalyptic battle, all that remains in the world of Blame! is grim: Killy is on the brink of death, and Cibo's fusion with the Level 9 Safeguard unit has reduced her once-impressive intellect to that of a child. As the merciless silicon creatures close in, a mind-boggling spherical space inside the city may hold the key to salvation... "Action packed, bloody, and cerebral to the core, it's stunningly drawn and impossible to put down." -Dave Halverson, Play Magazine
  • Here it is, at last, the ninth volume of the series, and the story is still going strong. Fantastic, and moody, the art complements Killy's journey through the Megastructure as he continues his odd quest for Net Terminal Genes. He encounters various types of Silicon Creatures, odd technology, and incredible settings. And still the mystery continues: what is the Megastructure, and how does Killy fit in?

This volume is worth it just for the views of the Megastructure. The artwork is enough to purchase the volume alone. In some ways it reminds me of the prints of Piranesi--lots of angles, staircases, strange technological devices that don't make much sense at first, sweeping vistas of vast technological spaces, and don't forget all the different sentient machines. This Manga lives up to its billing: definitly 'Cerebral to the Core'!!

  • This volume of the Blame! saga meanders a little and there is an entire chapter in which there is no dialogue however the universe that Nihei has built here begins to take shape and the sense of scale becomes dramatically grander. There is some genuine character development and the story gears itself up for the home stretch in Vol 10.
