  • This is my favorite all time cookbook. I have approximately twenty other cookbooks in my kitchen library. Yet this copy is the only one I use on a regular basis. I purchased my copy of this cookbook approximately forty five years ago when my middle aged children were little. This copy I purchased for my youngest daughter, now forty years old. She loves to cook so therefore I wanted her to have a copy of this marvelous cookbook edition. It has all the information you need to know in the kitchen. It has charts for everything from, measurements, cooking time, substitutions to name a few. Every recipe is in alphabetical order, so if you want to make a pumpkin pie you would look under P for pumpkin or if you want to know what temperature to cook a roast look up beef under B and it will give you a chart for every cut of beef possible with the time and temperature per pound to cook it at. It is so easy to use even our younger grandchildren use it when they come to visit. I only give an honest review of a product. So please buy with confidence. Your family will thank you.

  • This is one cookbook that I had never heard of somehow, despite having an extensive (2,500 volumes) collection. I saw an image online and went to Amazon to check it out and was amazed by the overwhelmingly positive reviews, so I ordered a copy. Now, after a couple weeks, I have read and enjoyed this book and made three recipes - all truly excellent. I don't know how I missed this, as I have a full set of the FRP individual cookbooks and a hardback set of the Best Of series. This is well-written and very well organized, and it may well be working its way out of the library to my kitchen set of books - the best of the best.

  • I have been cooking for a large family for almost 40 years. The recipes in this book are the best I have tried. That is not the only good thing about this book, though. It also provides when each food is in season if fresh, how to select good quality, different ways to prepare the food, and nutritional information. Then this book provides many tasty recipes featuring the food you are interested in! My book is splattered and wrinkled, but I still love it the best and bought a copy for all my daughters and daughters-in-law for Christmas. There will be many happy meals at all our tables in the years ahead.

  • I bought this cookbook as a gift for my sister. I own the origonal blue book edition (1995) printed by The Southwestern company and it is one of my favorite cookbooks. I was happy to find that this new edition is available on-line, because the prior edition had to be ordered from the company or bought from a traveling sales person.This version duplicates the origonal and lists all recipes via food topic or title, such as abalone, almond, ambrosia etc. Every cookbook collection should have The Illustrated Encyclopedia of American Cooking!

  • I have a copy of this cook book. A relative of mine saw it and commented that she liked it so I purchased this for her. I believe she is enjoying it.
