Vivek Singh is one of Britain's best-known Indian chefs. He has been executive chef of The Cinnamon Club since its launch in 2001. He was classically trained in India with the world- famous Oberoi Group. His food is a perfect blend of authentic Indian spicing and flavours and modern Western styles and techniques. In 2006, he wrote The Cinnamon Club Seafood Cookbook, and in 2008 came Curry: Classic and Contemporary. By this time, Vivek was not only an award-winning author, but also one of the most respected chefs in the UK, and one of the most recognisable faces of Indian cuisine on TV too.

  • When I was in London this past fall, I had the opportunity to dine at the Cinnamon Club Restaurant. I was so impressed with the food, the service, and the presentation!

    When I returned, I found the used book on Amazon at great price! It was for sale at the restaurant in London, but was expensive and heavy - not something to travel with. The book explains the genesis of the restaurant which is why it is so wonderful and is a top-rated restaurant in London. I have not tried any of the recipes yet, but will. Most of all, just reading and browsing the book is why I enjoy cookbooks. A good purchase!

  • I purchased this cookbook primarily because I love the Cinnamon Club as a restaurant. I wasn't disappointed when it arrived. The photos are beautiful and the dishes look great. Since I am not the "primary cook" in the family, I have to defer on its utility as a kitchen aid but from my review, they recipes look great.

  • very informative on the complexities of Indian cuisine. Excellent photography and plating ideas. Some recipes are quie complex, though. Mostly an artisans caliber.

  • This may be one of the best Indian cookbooks in my library. The Cinnamon Club is definitely one of the leading Indian restaurants in the UK, and probably also in the Western hemisphere. The recipes in the book reflect that level of sophistication. This is not an entry level cookbook, and the focus is on elegantly plated meals. There are references to pairing wine with Indian dishes, but this is a uncharted subject for me, so I cannot comment on that.

    I managed to get a copy of this cookbook from a Amazon re-seller for around $20. For me, it was a terrific value.

  • Review title says it all. The recipes are long and quite involved - but easy enough to follow. The results are well worth the time invested. As a Brit living in an Indian cuisine desert (Minnesota, US) this book saves my sanity.

  • It was not what I expected or wanted. I didn't realize it was a restaurant's cookbook. That was not made clear at all before my purchase. My husband thought it was "interesting". Neither of us will use it.
