Case Studies in Assessment of Students with Disabilities.

Victoria Groves Scott. This article contains a set of detailed steps that will assist middle and high school special education teachers in the construction and implementation of curriculum-based measurement (CBM) to track reading progress. CBM involves teachers, students, and parents in progress monitoring. The steps include information on how to construct and organize a CBM, how to administer and score a CBM, how to use the information for instructional changes, and how to use the data collected from a CBM to inform parents about their child's progress.

This casebook goes beyond providing the student with the technical know-how to administer and interpret a particular test by providing a context for the factors taken into consideration in the process of effective assessment. Two class-tested case studies per chapter provide much-needed practical application and development of problem-solving skills. In-chapter exercises at the end of each case present students with optional activities that promote active learning.

  • I had to purchase this for college and it is NOT a keeper. I didn't find it helpful at all. It provides case studies for a point of discussion. It does not provide any insights into how to view the case study, it just provides the case study and questions to ponder. While it is interesting to read case studies to get an idea of various issues that come up in special education, I would prefer a text that provides some insights.

  • Good book for the class I was taking that gives you scenarios that you could encounter as a special education teacher.

  • Arrived as advertised

  • Needed for a class

  • The book was good, but some of these cases can be found online.. I would not have bought it if it was not required.

  • This was a great book to help you with the GACE test because of the case studies. Interesting and resourceful.

  • Quick Shipping - Great Product....

  • I found the information relevant to my graduate class.
