Holt McDougal, Concepts and Skills: Geometry, National Edition

  • Doesn't cover Euclid's geometry. Lots of stuff about making paper cutouts and measuring areas, almost nothing about proofs. It talks down to 6th graders. I have been told that it does cover the tests for common core.
    What a waste of time for students.

  • This text is rather decent. While any text can always improve on its content, I've used this book and found it more that adequate in the given examples, and in terms of readability. Unlike some texts I've seen and used, this is one isn't overly cluttered with pretty pictures. I has decent diagrams, postulates and theorems posted. In addition, the author's made use of a tool frequently used in teaching the subject, "Patti Paper" (the same square paper used to remove a donut from a case or box). Patty Paper used as a hands-on manipulative can make construction of geometric figures more tangible.

    The book was promised within a 48 hour period, based on the shipping offered at time of purchase as was listed as "Good." Imagine my surprise when, upon the on-time delivery the text was BETTER than I expected. I would have listed this text as nearly "New" and I feel I got my money's worth!
