As an ESL reading teacher, and after purchasing the Reading Teacher's Book of Lists (which I absolutely ADORE) I thought this would offer the same convenience and be a great resource for my ESL teaching. I was very disappointed. I don't find myself using it at all.

  • As an ESL reading teacher, and after purchasing the Reading Teacher's Book of Lists (which I absolutely ADORE) I thought this would offer the same convenience and be a great resource for my ESL teaching. I was very disappointed. I don't find myself using it at all. It might be useful to beginner ESL teachers but I don't recommend it.

  • This series was recommended to me by a veteran teacher. These are high interest stories for adults learning the English language. Adult students enjoyed reading these stories, answering the questions, and discussing what they read with others. I even enjoyed reading the stories.

  • This useful book needs a few additions to keep up with increasing immigration to U.S. We serve individuals from Iran, Iraq, Hungary, Republic of Georgia, and Nepal, as well as Spanish speakers and Asian languages. The lists of diction problems are not sufficiently extensive, covering about half of the languages I see in ELL classes. The English information is still great!

  • This is the second copy of this book I have purchased. The first was for myself, and was passed on to another ESL teacher who was going to China. This one was purchased for an ESL teacher going to Mexico. I would recommend it for anyone teaching ESL. In particular, the sections on specialized vocabulary (such as the math vocabulary needed by a 4th grader), is priceless.

  • very useful book

  • It was time for an updated copy of this book. With the updated websites and appendixes, my new copy is better than ever.

  • Buy this.
    Use this.
It is kid and adult friendly literacy content and ideas for significant contribution to any curriculum.
It is not fun, but excellent for the instructor, seriously!

  • I'm a volunteer with no ESL experience and no teaching materials. This book gave me just what I needed... Well, lesson plans would also be good, but this book gave me the pronunciation help I needed and also a list of the 100 most frequent words in English, which my students are just loving. Thanks!
