The correct modelling of power system equipment and correct fault analysis of electrical networks are pre-requisite to. .

The correct modelling of power system equipment and correct fault analysis of electrical networks are pre-requisite to ensuring safety and they play a critical role in the identification of economic network investments. Environmental and economic factors require engineers to maximise the use of existing assets which in turn require accurate modelling and analysis techniques. The technology described in this book will always be required for the safe and economic design and operation of electrical power systems

Power Systems Modelling and Fault Analysis: Theory and Practice (Newnes Power Engineering . This book deals with nearly all aspects of power system engineering starting from general approach such as load estimate and the selection of suitable system and substation topology. Details for the design and operational restrictions of the major power system equipment, like cables, transformers and overhead lines are also dealt with. Basics for load-flow representation of equipment and short-circuit analysis are given as well as details on the grounding of system neutrals and insulation coordination.

This book provides a comprehensive practical treatment of the modelling of electrical power systems, and the theory and practice of fault analysis of power systems covering detailed and advanced theories as well as modern industry practices. The continuity and quality of electricity delivered safely and economically by today’s and future’s electrical power networks are important for both developed and developing economies. The technology described in this book will always be required for the safe and economic design and operation of electrical power systems. The book describes relevant advances in industry such as in the areas of international standards developments, emerging new generation technologies such as wind turbine generators, fault current limiters, multi-phase fault analysis, measurement of equipment parameters, probabilistic short-circuit analysis and electrical interference. *A fully up-to-date guide to the analysis and practical troubleshooting of short-circuit faults in electricity utilities and industrial power systems*Covers generators, transformers, substations, overhead power lines and industrial systems with a focus on best-practice techniques, safety issues, power system planning and economics*North American and British / European standards covered
  • This book is a text book for graduate studies. I work in intellectual property and is used for reference when examining. Not too difficult to read if one has a bachelors degree in engineering.

  • Contains a lot (jumble) of very complicated in-depth formula for modelling power systems components. Text appears accurate although not very clearly laid out. Quite a good reference text.

  • Dr. Tleis adopts a refreshing approach in this much-needed reference book. The subject matter is very clearly and logically presented, and the treatment is laudably comprehensive, with no stone left unturned in his analysis. A large number of helpful explanatory diagrams are also included within the text and many practical solved examples, and a full list of references and suggestions for further reading provided at the end of each chapter. In short, this extremely thoroughly-written book will doubtless become a standard text of enduring use to both academics and industry practitioners. At this price (particularly for a hardback edition) the book represents very good value for money, and as such will be readily accessible to students, academics and practising engineers alike.
