This manual contains approximately 35 experiments. It follows the organization of the text and includes experiments for all major topics. To help instructor's choose and prepare for the experiments this manual identifies the core experiments all students should perform and includes manufacturers' data sheets for the most common components.
  • I bought the paperback edition of this textbook (it was around $65 when I ordered it). Arrived at my door a week later.

The paperback is technically the international version. However, the hardcover domestic and the paperback international are identical. The only difference being a different cover and gray-scale printed pages.

The text itself is super dense. Tons of info packed into the paragraphs, which is probably why it weighs more than a dictionary. First textbook I've read that I felt like every sentence I read I'm actually learning something. Puts concepts into simple terms and clearly and cleanly explains them. It also throws in some real-world measurements and what is the most common voltage or MOSFET oxidizer thickness, etc. after it explains the concepts.

I'm sure this book is assigned to many microelectronics courses. It's probably a textbook that you will want to hold on to for awhile since the explanations are so thorough and precise (it's a good reference). And for the price of the paperback it's definitely worth it if you're a broke EE major like me.

  • I have also used the previous version of this book. The main difference between the 6th and 7th edition is the reorganization of topics and updated problems based on current technology. Some topics have been rewritten entirely. Now coming to the book it self, It needs no introduction. If you are new to electronics, this is the first book I would recommend. It starts from the very basics of the devices and goes to the designing of integrated circuits. In this edition the authors have focused on integrated circuits rather than discrete component circuits. I would definitely recommend it for any one starting out with analog/digital electronics. The other books which have studied so far, throws me out something, or some equations out of no where without any reasoning or explanation which will be difficult to comprehend without much details. Until now, I have never encountered any such difficulties in this edition. All the concepts and equations have been explained without any logical flaws. The problem set is very good, but the answers has not yet been updated in the website.

  • Complete scam of a Kindle download. The "adapted" international edition is nothing like the true hardback seventh edition. On the first page you can clearly see that the cover was taken from the fifth edition of the textbook.

The real problem with this ebook is the lack of a table of contents. This is a must-have feature for digital textbooks. It's impossible to find anything without one. There are also random spaces in the middle of words that make it difficult to read.

Apparently this is the first review for the ebook, hopefully others will see this before wasting $4 on this garbage.

  • The widely available paperback international edition (6th ed; ISBN13:978-0199738519) is sufficiently dissimilar to the hardback domestic edition that students should be warned against the purchase. This is the first time i've found an international edition that'd been edited in this manner. A few of the chapters are merged and reordered, and the problem sets are smaller and reordered. The exercises themselves are the same for the most part, but without a copy of the domestic text, a student is unable to know which to work for a class. If you're purchasing the book for your own reading, this really won't matter (though fwiw a paperback this ridiculously big seems like it'd be a pain to shelve or carry)

I'm just giving it three stars because this isn't really a review.

    REVISION:
It's been a few semesters and i've run through some other books in the interim. To make a brief review of the book itself, let me just say that i keep this one at my desk as a reference. The material is very complete and helps fill the gaps where other books have left off.

  • Well I am half through the semester with this book. And I can't express how much I hate it. I am now looking for a supplementary book. The examples explain next to nothing. The explanation of the theory is okay (not horrible,) but there is no justification for most of the math and formulas used. Much of the book's examples consist of here is the question and here is the solution, how they found it, who knows. There are also several incorrect solution to add to the excitement. In addition to this, nothing is explained in any particular order. Information you need to figure out an example problem in one section, won't be provided until several sections later, this is done w/o any acknowledgement or cues from the authors. The first day of class, our instructor warned us about how bad this book is, and it is by now play to see. Unfortunately I also have to use this book for the following class next semester. It is hard to believe that this is a 6th edition.

  • This text serves well as a reference, and has grown into something of a behemoth in more recent additions. I found this addition to be rather cohesive, although there was some forward-referencing and a lot of back-referencing. The material is often spread across chapters (especially digital logic) which makes readings a little more difficult to navigate for a more modular course. All in all, explanations are generally clear and examples are thorough.

  • Purchased this book for an electronics class that is split up into two courses. My professor happened to already incorporate a lot that was directly from the text so I only had to read certain passages on occasion. The material is very good, however my only complaint is the hardcover version is massive and not ideal to carry around.

  • Excellent book; terrible binding. Pages were very thin and had a tendency to get folded and creased on their own. This edition underwent a major restructuring, particularly the lengthy transistor sections got broken up and parts moved to other chapters. The majority of the content still exists, but it may not be where it was in previous (e.g. 6th edition)
