  • This book is an overview of a great railroad. I have a few books on the Milwaukee Road, including two authored by Jim Scribbins. There is a color section in the middle of the book. Photo quality is good and the text very informative.

  • A very nice photo history of the Milwaukee Road, a great railroad that just always seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The railroad was very innovative using top industrial designers and often building its own cars & equipment in-it own shops. And this book captures it all. Its not a written history, but in railroading, a picture really does often say a thousand words. I just wish it had been twice as big.

  • This book is very attractively designed, with generally well-written text and excellent photographs. However, the coverage of The Milwaukee Road is very uneven; the discussion of passenger trains, equipment and services is very wide-ranging, but freight operations receive comparatively little coverage. There is also little detail about the road's intriguing locomotive roster. At best, the book serves as an introduction, albeit a well-crafted one, to these other subjects. The only other strike against the book is the missing photograph on page 24. The map in the back of the book is very useful thanks to its clear graphics.

  • I was impressed with the condition of the book and the information that Jim Scribbins wrote in the book.

  • An excellent compilation of photos covering the history of the Milwaukee Road. Born into the third generation of a Milwaukee Road family, some of the photos and related text are familiar and bring back fond memories; others are new to me and bring out unknown or forgotten scenes or facts. A great collection of railroad images with related context.

  • Good descriptions of most of the Milwaukee Road's named passenger trains - including detail on the routes taken. Lots of great photos - interiors of the cars as well as train exterior shots. I would have preferred a little more information about the locomotives used in the passenger service.

  • A very good book.
