A guerrilla guide written by six students who destroyed the SAT, Up Your Score combines the best math and verbal preparation with the strategies and tips you need to psyche out-and not be psyched out by-the Test. This is the most amazing book for the SAT i've seen so far after simply glancing over the writing section a couple of days before I received a 630 on the sat writing section. After my first sat i really read it through and noticed just how amazing it is. It's a great read, keeps you entertained, and has amazing tips.

  • This book is a great book even if just by humor's standards. I did not want to put this book down. Anybody who's read an SAT study book before knows that is rare.

Witty, informative, and not too long. I recommend buying this book and 10 Real SAT's. Then if you really want to go the extra mile pick up Barron's How to Prepare for the SAT 1. It's really long but super informative with flash cards and everything.

    Buy this book!

  • This is the most amazing book for the SAT i've seen so far after simply glancing over the writing section a couple of days before I received a 630 on the sat writing section. After my first sat i really read it through and noticed just how amazing it is. It's a great read, keeps you entertained, and has amazing tips. I can't wait to take the sat test this saturday and impale the evil testing serpent. Pair this book with the college board book and you'll be on your way to success.

  • I bought this small book for my niece and took a look at it. It seems very easy to read, practical, down-to-earth and humorous. It has useful examples of the most difficult types of problems, for instance, in math. A welcome change from some of the other, more stuffy, voluminous and boring study guides. I think this book will hold her attention and help her as she prepares for the SAT.

  • I got this book for my son. He read it, and so on, but when he took

the SAT, he got fairly low grades (500s). Then we sent him to the

Princeton Review. Each of his three SAT scores was raised about

100 points (600s). That's the difference between UC and Cal State.

On the other hand, the Princeton Review is _expensive_. . .

  • I found three errors in the math section, then quit reading it. Errors are on pages 194 (when the fish takes his last break, he is already finished), 199 (what should be the factors for x**3+y**3 are screwed up), and 203-204 (the signs on the factos should be reversed). For someone who is not strong in math, this book would be terribly confusing.

  • A lot of what plays into successful test-taking is attitude. This book builds confidence and shows ways to approach a difficult exam in a positive way. It is a very interesting read, and emphasizes the importance of preparation to success.

If you are looking for practice exams, however, this is not your book.

  • I have two brothers who have taken the SAT. They studied using roughly 10 books. This book and one called 2400 are the best books on the market. My brothers math scores have each risen 200+ points using this and the 2400 book. One brother actually went from earning a 480 on the math to earning a 780 on the math. He missed one question! The verbal they both did better on but their scores inscreased by roughly 100 points. Reading this book and the 2400 book should be taken slowly. These books are small so learn a trick, apply it, rest, then verify you have it mastered before moving onto their next trick.

  • Okay the layout is good but kinda skims over everything doesnt go too much into detail and for someone that has been out of school for a while I need it to go into a little more detail. Maybe good if you are fresh out of school.
