Inferno - A Novel By Todd Riemer. Duration: 2m 50s. Uploaded: Category: Entertainment. As the inferno burns within him, Blum makes an unholy pact, denouncing his mortal soul for an opportunity at vengeance

The world as we know it has become a history hidden by layers of ash. The great Democracy of the Magistrates has spread itself far and wide. The sound of the anthem can be heard ringing across the desert wasteland. The promise of a world purified of the Red People, peals out from behind the High Magistrate’s golden mask. The mantra: Civility, Justice, Strength, follows the metronomic march of the Black Boots as they police the Capital. Imprisoned as a traitor, Blum’s one comfort is the memory of his beloved Isabelle, whose brutal execution haunts him in his waking hours and dreams. As the inferno burns within him, Blum makes an unholy pact, denouncing his mortal soul for an opportunity at vengeance. However, as his quest for revenge wages onward, he realizes that the price of his soul may not be enough to redeem her.
  • Inferno is definitely intense. It delivers everything readers in this generation desire (i.e. blood, lust, suspense, etc.), and does it through intelligently constructed and absorbingly descriptive prose. This book pushed my buttons at times as I didn't always like the main character, but I realized that this added to my experience of the novel and ultimately took me somewhere most books don't even dare to (a place where one can possibly dislike a character and yet still care what happens to that character and learn from that character's thoughts/emotions). I highly recommend this book to everyone over seventeen, and especially to those who are bored with the norm and looking for something that pushes the envelope.

  • They say one shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but definitely disregard that saying in this case-- the cover art for Inferno is just as exquisite and captivating as Reimer's prose inside. The story is dark, erotic, at times truly disturbing, and absolutely enthralling. It is a complex and suspenseful tale of love, redemption, and triumph over oppression told on a truly cinematic in scale. If you are a fan of post-apocalyptic science fiction, be it Dick, Le Guin, or Farmer, I encourage you to read Inferno.

  • I have to echo all the previous five star reviews written here. After recently finishing this novel (and I could not put this book down), I am still astonished that "Inferno" is this author's first work - it's exceptional. The narrative of this story in the protagonist's quest for vengeance and justice in a post-apocalyptic world dominated by religious and political fascists is written with remarkable velocity and beautiful, haunting and, at times, shocking imagery. The storyline frighteningly and aptly hones in on much of the zeitgeist of today, and Riemer successfully avoids cliche character development, provides great suspense, and excellent plot twists. Highly recommend this novel, and I can't wait to read Riemer's next!

  • Hey there!

I'm an award-winning actor and was hired by the talented Todd Reimer to read the upcoming audio version of Inferno! At my audition, I read some intense, gripping pages, but had no idea what the book would really be like. Having worked on it, I can say that it is vivid, intense, gripping, dramatic, and definitely takes you into a different world. It's filled with sex, violence, love, obsession corruption and that's all in the first chapter!!!?? It's ultimately a remdeptive piece that shows that love can overcome anything, which I believe it can. It's a visceral, masterful work and my life has been enriched so much from having read it. Yours will too!!!!

  • Riemer's prose is poetic and beautiful. The story shows that the human soul can overcome the most trying of situations: that beauty, hope and humanity can emerge from the wreckage.
I really enjoyed the novel and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys literature set in a dystopian future with strong characters that you really get attached to.
I like the fact that you can buy the cover art at [...], so many people have commented on the cover of this book!

  • Inferno is a must read. It is unlike anything I have ever read before. It was terrifying and beautiful all at once. Riemer somehow manages to fill you with hope and despair at the same time and keeps you guessing throughout. He takes you through a range of emotions and unlike many novelists who try to do the same, he still leaves you feeling satisfied at the end. It is well thought out and flows wonderfully. You can tell Riemer worked hard and put all of himself into Inferno. If this is only the authors first novel, I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

  • Inferno, debut novel by Todd Riemer, portrays a man's journey through memory and investigates feelings of regret, vengeance and loss. Riemer's chronological and syntactical decisions align seamlessly with the narrative, placing the reader in Blum's stream of consciousness. The hyper-distortion and imagery left me enthralled and wanting more. Despite the fantastic and dystopian elements, the reader is left with an analysis of humanity that is relatable, innovative, and relevant.

  • Inferno was a great read. A dystopian scifi epic that grabbed me instantly. I love movies like Mad Max, Omega Man and Blade Runner so Inferno was right up my alley. A combo of adventure, fantasy, scifi and dark social commentary Inferno had me hooked the whole time. Interested to see if this becomes a series...
