William Mercer Cook (January 27, 1869 – July 19, 1944), better known as Will Marion Cook, was an African-American composer, violinist, and choral director. Cook was a student of Antonín Dvořák. In 1919 he took his New York Syncopated Orchestra to England for a command performance for King George V of the United Kingdom, and tour.

I started by writing short stories for Canadian Broadcasting Company and a short story for Crime Writers of Canada while working as a public health nurse in the Cariboo country of British Columbia. Lots of wild country, fascinating characters and hard work. I became engrossed with ranch life, three children and writing, and retired from nursing to write full time. A stint at Indie production resulted in two adult mysteries: "Copper Creek Mystery" and "A Question of Justice. I loved my stint on the board of the Association of Book Publishers of British Columbia and learned an immense respect for the innovation, dedication and gambling spirit of publishers.

Margaret Brackenbury Crook (1886–1972) was a British Unitarian minister, a women’s suffrage and peace activist, and a professor of religious studies in the United States. She was one of the first women ministers to be granted sole authority over a large English church. She is remembered mainly for the strongly feminist biblical exegesis in her 1964 book Women and Religion.
