Nights in Rodanthe is a romantic love story novel by American writer Nicholas Sparks in September 2002. Set in Rodanthe, North Carolina, the story follows the purely intense and close romance of a divorced mother, Adrienne Willis, and a divorced father and surgeon, Paul Flanner. The novel's two main protagonists meet in an inn in Rodanthe and fall strongly in love. However, fate and destiny falls upon them when they realize that leaving Rodanthe would mean going back to their separate lives.

She only gets more beautiful every year. Since the dedication is to my other three children, I have to acknowledge both Miles and Ryan (who got a dedication in Message in a Bottle) ys! I’d also like to thank Theresa. Not only do they both have wonderful instincts, but they never let me slide when it comes to my writing

Every Breath by Nicholas Sparks

Every Breath by Nicholas Sparks. In the romantic tradition of The Notebook and Nights in Rodanthe, New York Times bestselling author Nicholas Sparks returns with a story about a chance encounter that becomes a touchstone for two vastly different individuals - transcending decades, continents, and the bittersweet workings of fate. The New York Times Best Sellers: Fiction – January 06, 2019. The New York Times Best Seller list is widely considered the preeminent list of best-selling books in the United States

At 45, Adrienne Willis must rethink her entire life when her husband abandons her. In search of a respite, she agrees to tend a friend's inn for the weekend in the small coastal town of Rodanthe, North Carolina. But a major storm and an unexpected guest bring two wounded people together.
  • Nicholas Sparks does it again! He writes the stories and characters every woman wants to experience (and men, as well). His love stories are not traditional, formulaic or trite. He sweeps you off your feet with emotion, imagery and beautifully crafted phraseology. The characters speak to you and come to life in his descriptions. I am completely drawn in to his stories of romance; reality and heartbreak. Thank you for weaving beauty into a time when pure soul and value is lacking.

  • Nights In Rodanthe is the story of two people coming together and falling in love when they lest expect it. Adrienne Willis is left to raise her three kids after her husband ran off with a younger woman and with a need to collect her thoughts, she goes to Rodanthe to tend to her friend's inn for the weekend unaware of what is to come. Paul Flanner was a highly successful doctor who is running from his past and trying to regain what he lost with his grown son. A trip to Rodanthe for Paul would mean a start to a new beginning with his son but at the same time, a certain woman will come into his life when it's most needed.

One weekend is all it takes for Adrienne and Paul, to fall deeply in love but with Paul set to fly down to South America for a year to be with his son, Paul is willing to give that up to be with Adrienne but comes to realization that he needs to be with his son more. With a sad goodbye and with it now been fifteen years since that weekend, Adrienne finally tells her daughter, Amanda what happened that weekend. As Amanda is dealing with a heartbreaking loss of her husband and having to raise two young boys by herself, the story of her mother and Paul will make her want to do more for her boys and realizes what her mother went through so many years ago. We are left with Adrienne reflecting on what happened that weekend and what happened with her and Paul afterward, we realize that all it takes is one look from someone to find your one true soul mate.

I have to be honest here and say that, this isn't my first time reading this book but it will be the first time reviewing it, yes people, it's that good of a book for me to have read and reread this book multiple times just to read Adrienne and Paul's story! Just reading how their lives collided on that beach in Rodanthe for the weekend and how they fell in love and what happened after, will have you crying a bit in the end of the book for them. When the movie came out, it was exactly like I thought it would be and it does make you think that love is possible even when you lest expect it!

Thank You to Nicholas Sparks for writing a story that you can reread over and over and not get bored with it!

This book came from my own personal Library!

  • I went ahead and gave this one 5 stars, but it's not even among my favorite Nicholas Sparks books. His stories always make you "feel" the characters. You know them all so well. Not this one. The only character you could feel was possibly Addrienne.

  • I read the following novels written by Nicholas Sparks in this order: THE NOTEBOOK, MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE, A WALK TO REMEMBER, THE RESCUE, BEND IN THE ROAD and finally NIGHTS IN RODANTHE. My favorite is BEND IN THE ROAD. I suspect that I like BEND IN THE ROAD the best because it is the least predictable. Like most of his novels, NIGHTS IN RODANTHE is highly predictable. Regardless of its predictability, I enjoyed reading it.
I am sure that those who have read his other novels will respond in the same manner as I did. However, I don't think that people read Sparks to experience a surprise. Sparks is a master of the English language and through his talent of constructing a sentence, he can induce a person to continue to read. Sparks has the rare talent to draw a picture with words. Characters come alive and make a connection with the reader.
The connection to real life that makes NIGHTS IN RODANTHE particularly compelling is the emergence of relationship triangles. I related to at least four relationship triangles. One of the three people has to make a decision reminiscent of Rick's final decision in the film CASABLANCA. To follow a path that fulfill one's emotional needs or to follow a path that is less altruistic but clearly more noble? Should a parent address the loneliness in one's life or focus on the needs of one's children? "That is the question." In real life as in the book, one cannot have it all. Like Rick in CASABLANCA and Paul in NIGHTS IN RODANTHE, only one decision can be made. Once the decision is made, there is no turning back.
The elegance of NIGHTS IN RODANTHE is the author's ability to capture the feelings of making a critical decision and placing these feelings in the heart of the reader who vicariously identifies with the relationship triangle.
