Alfred Tennyson, 1st Baron Tennyson FRS (6 August 1809 – 6 October 1892) was a British poet. He was the Poet Laureate of Great Britain and Ireland during much of Queen Victoria's reign and remains one of the most popular British poets. In 1829, Tennyson was awarded the Chancellor's Gold Medal at Cambridge for one of his first pieces, "Timbuktu. He published his first solo collection of poems, Poems Chiefly Lyrical in 1830.

Alfred Lord Tennyson, 1st Baron Tennyson (1809-1892) was Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom and is one of the most popular English poets. Much of his verse was based on classical mythological themes. One of Tennyson's most famous works is Idylls of the King (1859), a series of narrative poems based entirely on King Arthur and the Arthurian tales. In 1833, Tennyson published his second book of poetry, which included his well-known poem, The Lady of Shalott. In 1842 Tennyson published two volumes of Poems.

Lady Clare by Alfred Tennyson, published circa 1884 by Porter and Coates. This is a "good plus" or better antique book with a solid spine, the front hinge is somewhat cracked, the back is intact, no loose, torn or folded pages. No writing or name plates, some foxing on end papers. 8 tall, cloth wrapped boards, decorated front board, gilt on all edges of text block, all pages are glossy, illustrated on each right hand page, not paginated. The board corners are bumped with some wear, but not worn through the cloth.
