  • The last Everard book tells the story to the end and maybe little past it. All solid Fullerton - except... Usually Fullerton knows technical details - now there are some mistakes... Most remarkable of them: the story goes so that German Panzerschiff Admiral Scheer's underwater sound profile is not recognized - only turbines are heard - like destroyer's... BUT there were no steam turbines on Scheer - she was diesel-powered only - would have been very easy to hear the difference... As this has quite much meaning in the story, the mistake flattens the following happenings.

  • I have read all 9 Fullerton novels and thoroughly enjoyed them. If you like sea stories based on real history and tales of the incredible stress placed on the officers and men of the British navy in the early days of World War II, then these are the books for you.

These novels are a great mix of reality and super hero characters.... especially the Everard men. Taken with a grain of salt, these three men survive impossible odds over and over again....

Good reads.... well paced and well written. Recommended to all sea story buffs.

  • Top rated for a good suspenseful story partially based on true events. This book would make a great movie in the vein of the old British war movies. The ending was treated a little oddly as an second hand account so it was a bit anti-climatic.

  • I've read all nine books in the series now and each of the books has been excellent. The final outcome wasn't as I had hoped but the vagaries of war tend to make things unpredictable

  • I must immediately admit that I am Brit and a sucker for naval tales about the hazards of WW2. Enough said really-my score reflects my interest, but may nor be yours.

  • The entire series is tooo detailed...almost to the point of being mindless.

To be honest, I read the complete series just to find out what happened to Nick, Paul and Jack.. Skipped a lot of the endless detail in the various naval actions.

BTW: I served 25 years in the Army and saw combat in three different countries...

  • Dropped the ball, not near as good as others.

  • Amongst the most realistic and hair-raising naval actions since “Run Silent, Run Deep”.
You will love it with no doubt whatsoever.....
