  • As a former middle school teacher and adult literacy/GED teacher, this is an awesome read on several levels. The fact that it's about female athletes fills a niche that has long been overlooked. My adults learners would love this book because the characters are believable and the plot moves at an exciting pace, a must to keep them wanting to read. Any female, athlete or not, would find RELEASE POINT intertaining and relevant because it's also a story about friendships, enemies, family dynamics, and personal loss and redemption. You can't help but feel good after reading it. I hope there is a sequel! This is a story where I'm not ready to say goodbye to the characters yet.

  • Release Point was a GREAT read!!!! Being a former KU pitcher who also pitched in the barn, it brought back lots of memories. I especially liked how determined and competitive the characters were and how their teams and town rallied behind them. What a wonderful book for young players to read to not only be inspired by the characters dedication and work ethic but also by the development of sportsmanship and respect. What a nail biting ending. I'm looking forward to the sequel. Tracy Willis, University of Kansas

  • This is a wonderful story with competitive grit, true sportsmanship and an inspirational message! I loved the character development, especially the spirit and unwavering friendship of the catcher! Couldn't put the book down and can't wait for the sequel!

  • What a great read! I think it was written for girls who play the sport, but moms and dads will like it as well. I think every parent (and kid) who plays sports should read it! Great story! Great characters! Great fun! And wow! What a finish!Release Point

  • It's probably true that we all read for different reasons: Some to be entertained or to escape. Others more to learn new things about life, or themselves. I like all of that, but mostly, I read to find validation and support of my deepest beliefs about life. Or find good reason to change my perspective. This book appealed to me at all of those levels. First thing that made me smile was what an adept writer Mr. Quinn is. I knew, by a couple of pages in, that I was in very good hands. Having raised kids and grandkids, I could easily relate to the excitement and suspense of the sports activities. My psychologist background kept me fascinated by the interplay of personalities. And in my particular case, being a horse lover whose great grandfather was a blacksmith, I also was naturally intrigued by the setting and back story. The surprising thing about the book, which I had hoped to find but really didn't expect to see - was the depth of... not just character development and interaction...but the depth of the universal life lessons -- brought forth and celebrated so beautifully. This is one of those books I almost feel sorry for people who don't know it exists. Written with (and from) so much heart -- this story really made my heart smile. It would brighten anybody's outlook.

  • I read this fascinating book straight through. Just couldn't put it down. Great story with strong characters and a powerful message every parent and player of youth sports should read. A much needed and deserved uplift for female athletes. Once in a great while something comes along that changes the way we look at life, others, ourselves. This may be one of those times. Can't wait for a sequel. Does anybody else see a movie in this book?

  • My softball player daughter who has read many books has said this is her favorite book of all time. I had to read it and agree--a great book! It not only focuses on softball, but also teaches the importance of teamwork, dedication, and being a good sport on and off the field. We cannot wait for the sequel!

  • I'm a former softball player (played for 15 years) and I can't tell you how much I loved this book!
It was a blast from the past and brought back memories from some of the best times in my life.
A MUST READ FOR ANY SOFTBALL PLAYER/LOVER!
