Wise Children' is a fantastic example of modern literature . Carter uses a mixture of post-modernism and the carnivelesque in this novel to create an exciting read. Wise Children' never fails to disappoint and if it isn't taboo it isn't in this novel! 'Wise Children' is a fantastic example of modern literature. The theme of legitimacy and illigitimacy features prominantly but the book is also light hearted due to the humour and magical realism used. Carter constantly mocks patriarchy and Shakespeare throughout the novel reflecting her femininst beliefs.
