Rory Clements has really developed an interesting set of characters in his series. Revenger is the second book about John Shakespeare living in the late 16th century. He is an agent for Sir Robert Cecil and The Earl of Essex. Brother William makes a couple of appearances in the books, but the main character is John Shakespeare. Rory Clements uses "real events" while having a running story about a man who is torn between wanting to save the Queen and realm, looking after his school, his marriage and trying to save a young princess from losing her head.
