  • Outstanding three book truncated series; it was meant to be six books; but the publisher reneged. If you don't mind being left hanging at the beginning of the Invasion of North Africa and the final resolution of the Battle for Guadalcanal; this is a wonderful series of books. It's sort of like reading the Winds of War by Wouk without ever reading War and Remembrance. It can still be a rewarding experience. It examines the world and the war, primarily through the eyes of four people from Chicago, two brothers and a couple who marry early in the war. Reasoner does an excellent job rounding out the characters as they are scattered across the globe from the South Pacific, England and Egypt. It this he doesn't skimp on pushing the fascinating interwoven plots with the individual stories filling out and complementing the larger story of the war itself. While it is disappointing we can't read the entire tale plotted out by the author, these three books are still a very enjoyable experience.

  • Good story built arround WWII. Read all three books. Seem seems like there should be a number 4 to wrap up the story.

  • I would’ve gave it five stars if the author would’ve finished the story, very disappointed that it has no closure. If the publisher reneged why doesn’t the author go to another publisher he’s got a good storyline!
