  • This is my 98th Johnstone western and I am so disappointed. This is a tale of satanic, psychotic, serial killers under a thin veil of 'western' with violence in the extreme toward women. I am so very sorry-maybe it was some notion of commercialism that drove the story line. This is not the rich, western saga of the O'Brien family and Dromore, but rather a mean story with rampant psychopathology present in most characters. The fact that a psychotic female is the instigator of the violence does nothing to mitigate this violence. The entire premise of the book is how to perpetuate this violence. This is simply not an acceptable storyline. This is not a western. You will not be happy with this book if that is your expectation. Mr. Johnstone and Mr. Johnstone: What were you thinking?

  • I really enjoy a good western from time to time. And this wasn't one of them. When I read a western I don't expect nor want it to be about Satanism, demons, monsters and supernatural. A disappointing and disgusting read. My first book by this author and the last.

  • I liked the good characters and the plot. But the bad people were really, really bad people. Beyond evil. I was often filled with dread at what they would do next. Some rather graphic writing to the point that at times I just had to put the book down. But I always had to pick it back up to see what would happen next.

  • Devil worshipping in a western? That's what the bad guys focused on in the entire book...devil worshipping. I didn't even read the next book but my husband did and he said it was more devil stuff and the story was terrible. First book was so good but it's hard to think of a western with devil worshipping.

  • Rough, tough western novel keeps you turning pages as fast as you can !! Excellent story and mean, low down bad hombres, out to kill O'Brien brothers!! A must read !!!!

  • I think this series is my favorite so far. I am disappointed ???? that book 3 is not available in a kindle edition. Guess I will go on to book 4. Love these characters and their complexity.

  • As usual another good story from W. Johnstone. He never writes anything that jerks you out of the old West time period, like giter done or dark thirty.

  • Good, hard to put down read. I recommend it highly with all its twists and turns. More than the typical western shoot em up.
