John Conroy Hutcheson (1840–1897) was a British author of novels and short stories about life aboard ships at sea. Hutcheson was born in Jersey, Channel Islands, in 1840, and died in Portsea Island, Hampshire, in late 1896 or early 1897. Some of his works with a nautical theme include: Picked Up at Sea; or, the Gold Miners of Minturne Creek. She and I. - A love story: a life history. Volume one. (1873, London, Guildford). It has been very hard to find anything about the life of John Conroy Hutcheson.
This short book is probably of more interest to ten or eleven year olds, rather than any other age group, for much of the book is taken up with describing sundry very juvenile misdemeanours. It is well written, but my personal opinion is that it is quite inconsequential. He was born in Jersey, Channel Islands, in 1840, and died in Portsea, England, in late 1896 or early 1897. This was picked up from the Register of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
