A Romance of Two Worlds was Marie Corelli's first novel, published in 1886. The book was an immediate success, well beyond expectations. A Romance of Two Worlds starts with a young heroine, in first person, telling her story of a debilitating illness that includes depression and thoughts of suicide

It was the simply worded narration of a singular psychical experience, and included certain theories on religion which I, personally speaking, accept and believe. I had no sort of literary pride in my work whatsoever; there was nothing of self in the wish I had, that my ideas, such as they were, should reach the public, for I had no particular need of money, and certainly no hankering after fame.

ess worse than death. Recognizing, therefore, that in this cultivated age a wall of scepticism and cynicism is gradually being built up by intellectual thinkers of every nation against all that treats of the Supernatural and Unseen, I am aware that my narration of the events I have recently experienced will be read with incredulity.

In A Romance of Two Worlds, Marie Corelli takes on an old argument between the creationists and the evolutionists. She is in contact with an angel who reveals her many secrets. However, some of her insights are futuristic, including ideas about electricity, solar power, and the properties of the atom.
  • Maria Corelli (1855-1924) was a student of the Ascended Masters in the Theosophical Society, She was "one of the best-selling authors of her time. Her books were collected by the Royal family as well as by Churchill. In her writings, she attempted to unite different spiritual ideals with Christianity" says the cover of one of her other books.

She expresses an exceptional power of description of even the slightest nuances of thought and feeling, and brings God to you at every turn in the beauty and power of nature as well as in the love between friends and family members. Even though the descriptions are sometimes quite long and detailed, it is a "page turner" and you don't want to skip any of it, for it all figures into the plot, of course.

To the "untrained eye," this story may seem somewhat fantastical, but it is based on the teachings which can now be found through the I AM movement of the 1930s, the Summit Lighthouse through the 1990s, and currently through The Temple of the Presence.

I loved to read about the teachings of the Ascended Masters in novel form and have been extremely happy to find this author!

  • Very entertaining without the need to being fantastical. Totally believable! What she refers to as "electrical" throughout the book can be compared to what, nowadays, we refer to as "energy", as in "energy medicine", "aura", etc.. You don't have to agree with her personal religious positions or opinions to love this book. I'll be reading her other books.

  • One of the most magical books I've ever read! If you're interested in acsended masters I can't recommend this work of fiction enough. Book itself is medium quality- self printed vibes on the cover but it's laid out nicely inside.

  • I have to say I love Marie Corelli's brand of Victorian melodrama, but I did find this one, with its espousal of the "electric" power that makes Christianity practical, a little bit silly; but, there again, H. G. Wells took people to the moon without knowing that they would die through lack of atmosphere and Conan-Doyle believed in fairies, so why can't we enjoy a story that is simply beautifully written, albeit not scientifically acceptable. A lovely, though naive fable.

  • Don't buy this product. The book i received was a photo copy of the original old book. I asked for a revised replacement for the original product and still got the same photocopied book that looked like a school textbook!

  • Just fell in love with the Romancing of Two Worlds...found myself in both of them. Loved it.

  • This was the first book I've read from this author. I bought it as I enjoy romantic fantasies, however, I was blown away by the unexpected non-denominational religious insights she provided in the story line. Amazingly, Marie was able to provide suspense, sci-fi and fantasy in this book and fill me with a wonderful, uplifting sense of well being and human connectivity. I would encourage everyone to read this book. I will definitely read other books by Marie.

  • I love this author's writing. It is very dated but covers important issues.
