Judson Jerome, a poet and writer, died on Monday in Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia, Ohio. He died of lung cancer, his wife, Marty Jerome, said. He was 64 years old and lived in Yellow Springs, Ohio. His most recent book of poetry, "Jonah and Job," published by John Daniel Press, consists of two long poems. The Village and Other Poems" has been reissued by Dolphin Moon Press. He also wrote an autobiography, "Flight From Innocence," and a novel, "Nude.

For the rest of us, there's Judson Jerome's impeccable handbook. Simply put, this book may be the best instructional book ever written about poetry. Unlike other books, it isn't dry and tedious, and it doesn't focus on unimportant things. This is very much a nuts-and-bolts book. Rather, it's written in a lively, lucid style that is fascinating to read (I've read each chapter about 5 times).

The Book of Jonah is a book of the Nevi'im ("Prophets") in the Hebrew Bible. It tells of a Hebrew prophet named Jonah son of Amittai who is sent by God to prophesy the destruction of Nineveh but tries to escape the divine mission. Set in the reign of Jeroboam II (786–746 BC), it was probably written in the post-exilic period, some time between the late 5th to early 4th century BC. The story has a long interpretive history and has become well known through popular children's stories

Judson Jerome was an American poet, author, and literary critic, perhaps best known for having written the poetry column for Writer"s Digest for over thirty years, beginning in 1959. Jerome is involved in the scholarly conversation surrounding a controversial amendment to Ernest Hemingway"s 1933 short story A Clean, Well-Lighted Place: in 1956, Jerome - then an assistant professor of English at Antioch College - wrote to Hemingway to inquire about a section of dialogue which he saw as problematic. Hemingway responded to Jerome with the thirteen words "I just read the story and it continues to make sense to medical ".
