Fred’s poems have appeared in all sorts of poetry collections and he has written books of poetry for adults too. His very well-known book ‘Here comes the Poetry Man’ was shortlisted for an award. Fred’s work has appeared in many poetry anthologies for children, including "The Works" and "Read Me and Laugh". He has also published three collections of poetry for adults. Fred Sedgwick has worked as a teacher in Stevenage and Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. He also was a head teacher at Swing Gate First School in Berkhamsted from 1975 to 1981, at Bramford Primary School in Ipswich during 1981-1984 and at Downing Primary School in Ipswich from 1984 to 1990. In addition, Sedgwick was a tutor at the Open University in 1986-1987.

I say "misleadingly" since I suspect that the superficial, even banal, critical label of minimalist was applied only because the poems were not very long.
