  • There were some awkward parts at the end about negros. It was time appropriate for when the book was written and Prudy learns a good lesson bout her attitude, but reading to a modern day 8 year old, the language was a bit rough. It provided a good talking point though and we both very much enjoyed the book! It was a great bedtime read and my daughter says she wants to read more in the series.
