Martin definitely delivers. After reading the first book about the Raines brothers, I knew Kat Martin would have to do something pretty amazing to make her second book as much of a joy to read. As soon as I opened the book, I realized that she has succeeded.

AGAINST ODDS ( RAINES OF WIND CANYON) By Kat Martin BRAND NEW This is a 'don't miss' read. Kat Martin is a very gifted writer who takes you from the beginning to the end in total suspense.

AGAINST ODDS ( RAINES OF WIND CANYON) By Kat Martin BRAND NEW. the romantic suspense is tautly compelling and the psychological terror ratchets up with each red herring. Readers aren't going to be able to put the light out until the last page.

She's got the face of an angel and the body of…well, isn't that what he'd expect from an exotic dancer? But there's something about this girl that Johnnie Riggs can't shake. The former army ranger is hot on the trail of an elusive drug lord—and suddenly very hot under the collar, as well.Amy's got her own agenda to pursue: her sister is missing and Amy seems to be the only one who cares. She'll enlist Johnnie's help and do her best to ignore her growing attraction to finally get some answers. But when the two trails begin to converge and reveal something even more sinister than they imagined, their mutual desire is the least of their problems. They'll bring the truth to light…or die trying.
  • I've read each one of these "Against" books faster than Kat Martin can get them written. Of the series, Against the Night was my favorite. I think because Amy "Angel" is funny! She is the cutest and sweetest character of any of the other women in the series because she is straightforward and just comes on out with it. It's hilarious when she looks at Jake Cantrell (ooo lala!) as he is all geared up ready to kill someone and Amy says to him, "Nice to meet you. Thank you for coming." I roared. A Kindergarten teacher and yet how many of them wouldn't secretly love to swing half naked around a pole? It's funny. And the things John Riggs says to her are also funny. They're a perfect match for each other. I really enjoyed the humor, the romance, the mystery, the suspense and as always.....these men!! Thanks again Kat Martin. I will be waiting impatiently for Against the Mark, Against the Odds and Against the Edge!

  • Talk about chemistry--that's what happens between naive Amy and ex-Ranger P.I. Johnnie Riggs in a twisting, suspenseful search for Amy's missing sister. Part of the "Against the..." series by Kat Martin, this is a really exciting book with lots of steam and excitement generated by Riggs and Amy as they pursue the goal of finding sister Rachael. Along the way they encounter bad guys (drug cartel members and crooked cops) and good guys (former Rangers, Seals, Marines and straight cops). It's an armed pursuit book that is difficult to put down so pick it up and enjoy!

  • I have been a reader of Kat Martin for awhile and I do love the way the stories build upon the characters and the trials of life. Wonderful. Can't wait for the next one. Thank you.

  • Loved it. Characters lifelike...could not wait to read every chapter. Looking forward to every word written. Great imagination loved the writer.

  • This fifth book in the Raines of Wind Canyon series continues with the brothers and their friends. While it is a very good story with Martin's usual twists and turns, it didn't seem to be as tight as her usual books. The characters were tightly written and pitting an ex-ranger against a kindergarten teacher "undercover" as a stripper has all sorts of possibilities, but the story didn't click along quite as quickly as her stories normally do, so I rated it 4 stars instead of 5.

  • I only give 5 stars to a book I will read again. I really like this one specifically. The series if fun to read. I've read them all so far. I don't give all the books in the series 5 starts but they're at least 4. This one is a fave so I bought it and read it twice!

  • Love Kat Martin's Against series. All the stories in this series are great romantic suspense stories. But this one is a special favorite. Love the hero and what the heroine will do for her sister. She never loses faith. Kat Martin is on my pre-order list and can't wait to read the next one in the series. She never disappoints.

  • Another in the series of stories about former military personnel who continue to rescue a damsel in distress. Well written and engage story about a woman who disappears, a sister who pretends to be a stripper to find her, and a big strong guy who is intrigued by the things that don't add up.

On to the next book in this series!
