Scott Anthony Emerson (born 15 January 1964) is a former Australian politician. He served as the Minister for Transport and Main Roads Minister in the Newman Ministry from 2012 to 2015. In the Legislative Assembly of Queensland he represented the seat of Indooroopilly in Brisbane's inner-west, from 2009 to 2017. Indooroopilly was abolished at the 2017 state election and Emerson chose to contest the new seat of Maiwar which had a notional LNP margin of 3%; Emerson was unsuccessful in his bid.

The author of My Eyes Are Green and You Had Me at Hello introduces you to his most unforgettable and dynamic characters to date. Antonio, Yvette, Michele and Brice are as different as night and day, but they share one commonality-they work at Donatello's, the hottest and most upscale restaurant in New York City. At Donatello's, million dollar deals and careers are made or broken over fancy cocktails. On any given day, the restaurant is a virtual Who's Who of celebrity sightings. If you don't have the right connections, you'll find yourself on the outside looking in. Antonio, the domineering and striking restaurant manager, is miserable in his marriage, and uses Donatello's as his ultimate playground, but a dark secret could destroy his life. Yvette, Atlanta's hottest on-the-rise female rapper, drops out of college and moves to New York after finding out her cheating boyfriend just signed a record deal. Now, she aims to collect on promises he made to her in the heat of passion and she will let nothing stand in the way of her career. Michele, who was raised in the projects and sexually abused by a man old enough to be her father, has an addiction to cold, hard cash. Despite being blessed with beauty and brains, she cannot manage to leave her married abuser alone. Brice a gay, hopeless-romantic has dreams of being a famous poet, but when he joins a hip hop group that blows up overnight, he is forced into living a lie while being enticed by powerful men who are hiding in hip hop. The Weakness In Me shows that all that glitters isn't gold and that tragedy can lurk around any corner. When a mysterious fire burns down Donatello's, it incinerates the hopes and dreams of many, and takes the life of one of the main characters. When the flames are extinguished and the ashes are cleared, who will be left standing?
  • Very good book!! That Antonio was a piece of work and I was hoping he would change after his near death experience!! Michele (tear, tear), couldn't catch a break, everytime she thought she was getting ahead, she got pushed back a step but, that didn't stop her for going for what she wanted and in the (end) she prevailed!! Brice, the college student who was just trying to graduate and find love along the way. When he meets Yvette who wants to make it in the industry as one of the hottest female rapper but she can't seem to find that one person to help get her there. But when her and Brice come togther (Oh boy)!!! Oh and I just gotta say "WHO THE HELL DID RAUL THINK HE WAS"...LOL!!!

  • 'Weakness in Me' has to be one of favorite ereads as of late. The storytelling and the flow of the story were all gratifying and kept me wanting more. Antonio, Bonnie, Carlos, Bianca, and Calvin were total S.O.B.s or annoyed me throughout most of this story but I loved what they brought to the table since it made a lot of the likeable characters stronger by the end and the book a fun one to indulge. There is a sad moment within the latter stage of the read yet it plays a key role into bringing the reminder of the book full circle. Great read and well-worth purchase!

  • Great story with phenomenal twists and turns. The ending still has me speechless. Ultimately the storyline reminds us several conventional life lessons: (1) tomorrow is never promised, (2) you will reap what you sow, (3) business is never personal, and (4) you gotta love your family but you ain't gotta like em. This novel is evidence that Emerson is solidifying his place among the literary geniuses who educate Main Street about Pride Street. I'm glad this saga continues. I can't wait until the next installment.

  • I just finished reading "Weakness In Me" and Marcel has given me another page turner. I was a little mad about Michelle, but I understand why that had to be, and I'm now over it, he made for it with JP. I love how some of his previous characters came out and visited with us. I was super excited that the "Pack" was back together. One can only imagine what more Mr. Emerson can come up with. I'm waiting with bated breath for your next one.

  • I was supposed to have THE WEAKNESS IN ME a year ago after my good friend Marcel Emerson autographed a copy for me. I finally found the chance to read it. There are many things definitely cooking at the high-profile restaurant Donatello's where the lives of the four main characters are intertwined. You have Antonio, the socially-climbing manager who has DARK secrets in his past yet uses his power to manipulate, blackmail, and destroy those in his path. Yvette is the aspiring female rapper who will do everything and anything to get to the top. Michelle is the money hungry get-it girl who cannot shake her demons from her past and her mysterious connection to an unexpected source. Brice is the gay college student who becomes part of a hip-hop group, only to get wrapped up in down-low games played by sexual undercovers who are hiding in hip-hop. This is the making of a soap opera by itself and I can see this on cable television with its eroticism, blackmail, scandal, plot twists and turns, and unsavory characters who will jump over others to get theirs. It was great to see characters like Jennifer, Dontae, and Kenya from the two prequels MY EYES ARE GREEN and YOU HAD ME AT HELLO as they tied in with Yvette and Michelle's storylines. Marcel definitely stepped up his game with his third novel but I will state that some of the grammar and punctuation in some places need to be tightened up. Otherwise, I was hooked to the end. I know there has to be a sequel to this saga. I am not giving anything away but please read it.

  • Marcel Emerson pushes the envelope yet again with his latest novel: Weakness In Me. The novel is a bumpy road, full of confusion and emotion- but those are key elements for any good drama. The characters are complex, honest, and raw. The reader finds himself emotionally invested in the outcomes of their experiences. There is a recurring scene in the book that is one of the most creative things I have seen in literary fiction in quite sometime. We get cameo's from character's in his first two novels, and I have to admit is was WONDERFUL seeing them again. I sense a sequel and I am looking forward to it! This critic gives "Weakness in Me" 4 out of 5 Stars. Well done and a must read!

  • Antonio is something else. SMH. I think all of us can relate to the characters in some way. Brice, trying to find love. Michele, trying to get ahead, but getting pushed back and Yvette, trying to make in the industry. All I can say is, you gotta comp this book and it's hot hot hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Soap Opera and Erotica
